Most people on this planet refer to it as "Win2K" or Windows 2000.

lol these recruiters try to "qualify" potentials but they don't know much themselves, if they did they wouldn't be in the head hunting business. Win2000 sometimes is referred to as NT5, the successor to NT4 but there's no NT5, only Windows 2000 "built on NT technology".

Actually it
WINDOWS NT/2000. In other words both products are pretty similiar from the viewpoint of several technologies. Kinda like saying Windows 3.xx But now the forefront is Windows XP Pro which is after windows 2000 Then you have Professional IIS and such Server More tools for file servers and D_Bases and Advanced Server: Allows Clustering of File Server and Data Bases. Adv. Server is good for taking multiple platforms and utilizing all of them as one HUGE Data Base or File Server, but it also allows distribution of network Loads over several machines as well. So that CPU's are not worked so hard. Benjamin |

All versions of Win2K are essentially specialised revisions of the Windows NT engine, version 5. The NT5 that was originally slated for release way back when was renamed to Win2K, and seperated into Pro, Server, Enterprise, and one other version (I don't recall what that one was called...)
WinXP is meant to be a revised version of Win2K, so it could almost be called NT6. Calling Win2K NT/2K is kinda like calling Win3.x an "operating system." (it was not - it required DOS to run. there are 5 versions of 2k Pro Server Advanced Server DataCenter Server AppCenter Server BTW NT means New Technology.. so Built On NT Technology.. Built On New Technology Technology. NICE GRAMMER MICROSOFT! |

To make sure there is no confusion, you should refer to Windows as "Windows NT 2000 XP 98/95 SE Professional ME"
