I saw a great web site about 2 months ago, and damned if I can't find the link... to bad too, it was the best I've seen yet. :(

You should go and visit the Arizona Memorial, I've been once, but need to go again now that the Mighty MO. is there.

I was there 12/7/97.I bought a book by the head diver who raised all the ships. They raised all but two.One they run aground and was obsolete.Of course the Arizona.He. felt it could have been raised also. The higher ups said no.

Anybody know the reason the AZ was never raised?  Almost all of the other sunk battleships were raised, rebuilt and made their own contribution to the war effort.

Why not the Arizona???

The guy in charge of the salvage said he could raise it.He actually dove on the wrecks everyday. They ended up recovering all the ships but the Arizona and one obsolete ship. However the higher ups made the ruling that the ships back was broke.Therefor it couldn't be raised.I think its because they didn't want the fact that a lot of people died after being trapped for days.

The absolute BEST Pearl Harbor site is this:

Just look at this Board for a second, you'll see how comprehensive it is!
