My gf got me to read the Twilight books and they were actually really fun to read,  and some of the ideas in the book were very original and fun to think about it. I would recommend these books to readers of all ages.

Anyone else read through these and liked them?

See the sex part is what worries me...It is so hard finding books for her that are interesting––that doesn't deal with adult subject matter..

If she hasn't read the Artemis Fowl series then you could get her that, they are very clean as far as sex goes, there is some violence. The ideas in the book really inspire original though they talk about subterranean tunnels and how they are built and held up, they talk about some firearms mainly sig's, and they go into the anatomy of mythical creatures, very fun to read, and aimed at younger readers.

Edit: also there is two main characters a boy and a girl just like twilight.

Got tricked into watching the movie this weekend.

The most mind numbingly bland movie I have ever watched.

No chance that I'll be reading the books now.

What was the deal with the dark circles under everyone's eyes?

It's okay, I had to watch Sex and the City last night... Aside from horseface, I rather enjoyed the flick.

There's a definite sexual undertone in the stories, but the author is Mormon and REALLY pushes the 'no sex before marriage' angle. The leads don't have sex until they're married in the fourth book. My eleven year old niece gave them to me to read. I personally hated them because they totally wimpified vampires and the female lead is a clumsy oaf who needs a padded room, but I can understand why teens and tweens love them so much.

I'm not telling you how to raise your daughter, I have a 10 year old daughter too. It is not too early to tell her the truth about sex and male/female realtionships.

Yeah bella was the most annoying part of the whole series, the vampires were what really drew me in I've read ann rice and i like her vampires better but her writing style is just way to slow for me.

I've heard David Wellington wrote some vamp books i just havent had time to pick them up yet, he does great zombie books though so im pretty excited to see how his vamp shit is.

From what I understand the "Vampires" In twilight don't sleep in coffins (don't sleep at all actually), don't drink the blood of humans and can walk around in the fucking daytime. They are not evil undead spawn of satan. They are like some liberal pussified version of vampires for little girls and teenageers.

A vampire is evil, turns to dust and/or explodes if it's outside in the daytime and only thirsts for the blood of human beings. This twilight crap with emo day walking vampires who are in touch with their feelings is bullshit of the highest order.

Or maybe the people who read Vamp related books were getting tired of reading the same stereotypical shit and like a change of pace. The book is actually really anti-liberal one of the vamps was even in the continental army during the civil war, and the main character Edward admits to killing a bunch of criminals.

I was telling my GF the same shit you just said then i read the books.

My daughter is in 4th grade and has friends that are already boy crazy. More than one has told her about boys they want to have sex with.

Yeah, it so tough to be in high school. And on top of that to be a gay, faggoty, emo, vampire in high school.

He can't even slit his wrists or die from AIDS.

I read the first one before I let my 12 year old daughter read it.

It was...  eh.   Teeny bopper crap.   She, of course, has read the entire series.      She is willing to admit the books were better than the movie, though, so I can't WAIT for that to show up on my Netflix queue.
