With the "ONE"  having control of GM and I'm betting he will mess with Chrysler top staff too what will this mean to Ford? Will they have an unfair advantage? Will they be the sole survivor? I for one will nver by anything from GM or Chrysler as long as the gubberment has anything to do with them.

They are still shackled by the UAW - guess who their next strike target will be.

Aw, boohoo for them, they sold out to the government and now they are having to do what their new master tells them. Thats tough shit, nobody forced them to take the money, nobody forced them to cave to the unions like a bunch of sissies, nobody forced them to make vehicles that are inferior to imports, and nobody forced them to not fix themselves before this shit got out of hand. They chose their games and they can eat their prize for all I give a rusty f word.

If we get cut off by our creditors before GM and Chrysler get their shits together, Ford could end up standing alone as the United States only domestically HQ'ed car manufacturer.

I truly do hope this happens, because it will be a shinning example of free market capitolism beating out socialism. I think a company that depends entirely on its ability to perform beating out two other companies that depend on the governments ability to subsidize them would deliver a great message for our next generation. These kids need to learn that a good business model may or may not succeed, but an epic failure of a business model can only fail, and it is only a matter of how long it takes it to fail, and in the case of socialism, how much it will bring the rest of the country down with it.

Yeah, and I hope Ford lets them too. Nothing would make me happier than Ford managment telling the union workers that say they wont come to work next week without a raise to take the month off and get back to them when they are tired of making $0.00/hr.

No. Going from ~$1.26 to almost $3.80 is a 300% increase in value. I got in on the bottom floor of their dead-cat bounce and made good money. Now I might dump the rest.

Ford now gets the privilege of competing against government-controlled companies subsidized by taxpayers

Well, Ford was looking at the scrawls on the wall, and positioned itself not to have to take the bailout money. Thus they are still stockholder owner not Gov. owned.
Ford is free to make the vehicles they want as the market requests. GM an Crysler will have to take direction from the one.
You can be sure that the UAW with proding from the Leader will go after them.
Now if Ford was smart enough to position themself so they did not have to bailed out, I bet they have plans for that.
Funny to see that the one company that sells the most popular truck, will be able to tell the Great one to suck off. Ford could become a symbol of independence. If only they made the Jeep.

Fixed it.  Their CEOs showed up to Washington DC and asked Congress for money out of my pocket, and food off of my kids' plates in order to stay afloat with their failure of a business model.  Fuck them.

This.  I hope Ford as the last great bastion of American automotive ingenuity stays healthy.  I would hate to see the government come cracking down on them as well.  GM and Chrysler sold out to Big Government.  Go Ford go indeed.

I'm glad I've bought Ford in the past and plan to again. Been nothing but great vehicles. Not taking my tax money makes it even better.

I can't wait to dump my GMC Sierra...I hate what GM stands for and in owning this truck, I see why they ended up taking gov't money. I bought Ford before this, and I'll be buying Ford from now on.

I'm currently in the market for a used 3/4 ton pickup.  While I typically go with a GM product, I will be buying a F250 soon.  I've owned both Chevy and Fords before so I am comfortable with either.  However, Ford NOT taking bailout money made my decision easy.

I'm not buying new though.  35K for a new pickup is insane.
