I've been riding a drz 400 that was wrecked several times and converted to more of a dirt bike before given to me. I enjoyed riding it around the property and local back gravel roads but im really interested in street riding now. I went to two of the local dealers and finger fucked everything in their inventory which narrowed it down to these 3. I don't like the overall feel of the GSXR and the Daytona 675 is too tall and parts/maintenance will be more expensive to the point it's not really worth considering for a first street bike.

Honda 600RR

Kawasaki ZX6R

Yamaha R6

I understand the Honda wins the shootouts but is the difference that noticeable? Also if I were to go used what should I look for as far as wear/tear?

My first bike was a zx6r. Then I got a zx9. I am a Kawasaki fan.

Pretty much any of the 3 you picked is going to be great.

All the big 4 jap makers are as good as the other.

Sit on them all and see what feels and fits you.

I personally like honda and Kaw.
Never liked yamaha because the handle bars droop on the ends and it would hurt my wrists.
I have owned in the past a 00-Zx6r, 2 ZX9r A Zrx1100,A 77 kz1000ltd, and an 06 Hayabusa.

I'm 6ft3 and need a big roomy bike and now it seems the 600 are too small for me.

Sit on them and see what you like. You really can't go wrong with any of them, as long as you like the feel of the bike.

Triumph daytona 675 FTW.

It may be a bit more spendy than your cookie cutter bikes but it is sexy and fast.

Whichever one fits you the best. Go sit on some. They're all pretty much the same otherwise.

If you want a fast 600 that won't kill you on insurance, look at the Kawasaki ZZR600. I had one and insurance is cheap. It's just a rebadged 2002 ZX-6R and kept up with all of the other latest and greatest 600cc bikes that my friends had.

Actually you can't go wrong with any of the three picks. My friends own the ninja, r6 and the gixxer 750. I'd get the Honda.

Yea the yen to dollar conversion has fucked that all up.

in 2000 I bought a new zx6r out the door for 6800 and in 06 bought a Busa for 9300 out the door.

Now a 600 is 9k and a busa is 12k

Dont count out the 675 too fast, The parts are not that much more expensive than the jap bikes. And the insurance will be cheaper than a 600. Most triumph dealerships will let you take it on a test ride, you will fall in love with the triple engine. It pulls from 3000 to red line hard unlike the jap inline 4 in which you have to get it up to 8-9000 to start feeling it. The egros are a little more race oriented but you will get used to it fast. Plus your bike won't get lost in the crowd. Here is mine. Also with the triple engine is very forgiving in gear selection and speed coming out of turns. I have owned a CBR 600 and a GSXR 750 and this is by far my favorite bike.

Don't go with the Kawasaki.

Personally I'd go with the R6 but the CBR isn't a bad choice either. It all depends on which one you feel most comfortable sitting on. Go to the dealership and sit on them and see if they'll let you take them for a quick test ride.

I'd go with the R6 if I were you though although the 08 CBR's in Graffiti are really really sick looking.

That Triumph was also pretty tits. I'm a Honda guy myself, but I love these uncommon type bikes. Every where you go you see GSXR/Ninja/CBR's

How about a toned down version of the R6 for a great price (and still around 98 hp)? If you don't like the ergos of laying on a gas tank and want a bit more upright position, I vote for the below.

Go with the Honda. I had a ZX636R and it was a love hate relationship. The bikes look sweet with the high tail rake but the angle really kills you. With the high tail it forces all of your weight onto your palms on the steering bars. The only way to fix it is to be under massive acceleration, thats fine but you cant always be twisting the throttle. The Honda has a flatter seat so it rides easier and it still has a reputation for speed. There was actually times were I wouldn't ride the bike because my hands were hurting, hell a hour long ride was almost torture.

You should consider a used bike. There are a ton of well maintained, low mileage late model bikes for sale due to the economy. You can probably pick one up much cheaper than a new one.

If you are new to street bikes and want something with full bodywork - take a look at the price of plastics in the event of laying it down. It may keep you from buying new right off the bat.

Also, consider a Kawi Ninja 650. Not quite as sexy as a race replica, but less money and loads of fun.
