First and foremost fellas, please keep your scary and wiseass remarks to yourself as I'm a little freaked out. I do want honest responses though.  Mostly men in here and problems with your junk is not fun or funny.

I'm a 36 year old male. In average shape, eat healthy and life weights regularly. I'm thin and have no history of serious medical problems in my family. Six weeks ago (2/15) I experienced a case of hematospermia (blood in semen). It happened one time with a moderate amount of blood. The next day it was just a little pink. All clear after that. Cases of hematospermia have been written about since Roman times and usually isn't serious. Well, it occurred again last weekend (3/22). Same thing again. Once with moderate amount of blood, pink the next day then all clear. However, the ante was raise a little this time. Two days later (3/24), I noticed a little blood in my stool. It was bright red which seems to point to the prostate or something on the lower levels. I read that if it comes from higher up, the blood is usually darker. Anyway, all clear in my semen and stool since then.

Now, I don't have ANY other symptoms. No pain urinating or ejaculating. No trouble starting or stopping my urine stream. No getting up five times a night. No pain anywhere (stomach, back, testicles). Nada - only what I described above.

Yes, I do plan to see a doctor soon. I hope it's a simple case of an inflamed prostate. However, would that lead to any blood in my stool? If it's inflammation, would it happen once then reoccur five weeks later? From what I've read of prostate cancer, it's usually advanced before any symptoms manifest themselves. My age would lead me to believe it's not too advanced, whatever "it" is. My lack of other symptoms is also puzzling. I have been lifting heavier and more often since New Years but don't know if that could cause any of these symptoms. Finally, should I see a urologist or proctologist?

P.S. - What should I expect in an exam? I'm thinking a blood test to check my PSA levels and a......damn I hate saying this....... digital inspection as well as a fecal blood test. Anything else to be expected in the initial exam?

Just kidding. I say just wait till you see a Dr. Anything else is just guessing. If it makes you feel better 36 is way to young for prostate cancer.

A urologist will give you a thorough and uncomfortable examination...and most likely, everything will be cool. Try not to worry. Even if it's a "worst case" scenario, the "C word", they'll just cut it out of you.

Don't play around with it. Get to a doc ASAP.

When you saw blood in your stool, was "going" that time difficult?  Constipated?  Sometimes after a rough time on the chair, that can happen.

Come here for support, or to laugh at the rest of us,  but don't ask strangers on a gun forum to diagnose a medical condition for ya.  Saw bones is the only way to go and he/she will tell you if a specialist is needed.

First things first..

Step the fuck away from the PC, and stay away from it until you have the willpower to NOT look up your symptoms on the internet.

The WORST thing you can do is try to e-diagnose yourself. All it brings is worry. Don't do it to yourself.

You say you've got a doctors appointment... stick to it. If you can schedule on earlier, do it.... more for your peace of mind than anything.

But whatever you do, stay away from doing your own online research.

Statistically speaking, the doctor will probably tell him he's okay. Let's hope he gets checked out soon.

The reason I said 36 is way to young for prostate cancer is because most Primary Care Dr's don't even worry about prostate cancer until age 50. If you have had problems since 23 you are not in the norm. Sorry for your problems.



Don't worry about the exam it's not that bad. I have had 13  colonoscopy's and I'm having another one next week.

Have you eaten any pork or fish recently, or have you come into contact with animal feces? Could be parasites (e.g., nematodes) trying to crawl up to your lungs. They go there to get coughed up and swallowed, then lay eggs in your digestive tract. Most are pooped out, but some hang around to start the process again. I am a physician with the CDC and expert in infectious diseases.









































In other words, don't ask the internets for medical advice. It could be any number of things.

The ONLY person you should be discussing your medical issue with is your physician!

When was the last time you had a physical and blood work?

I'm not diagnosing shit.  As one who had a prostrate tumor ten years ago, I'll tell you just once:  Get your prostrate to a urologist...NOW!

I appreciate all the responses. I suppose the best advise is to step away from the computer, not self diagnose and get to a doctor asap. I just thought I'd see what others, that had encountered prostate problems, had to say. I have a deep distrust of doctors as most are too arrogant to admit when they don't know what's going on. I've also heard  of stories where invasive surgery wasn't needed and cause additional problems. I'll see a urologist asap and if I don't trust him or his diagnosis, will get a second opinion. Guess I've just been freaked out and thought someone might have had a similar experience. Thanks again.

Meh, I had some old blood (darker color, almost brown..ew) in my spunk..went to the DR, he said it was my prostate and gave me some Cipro.  Cleared it right up.  I was about 27 at the time.  Scary stuff when you're not expecting it.
