What do I do? I don't have any live insects to feed it and this isn't one of those big, large preying mantises. This thing is like a centimeter long. I think it likes me.

Our local nursery has the egg cases for sale. You can get 200 mantises for $5. They are good for the garden and fun to watch.

Let me clarify. I purchased the insect from a childhood friend, someone I used to babysit. She needed money for a school trip and to raise money they're selling mantises. Well, I just set it free. We had a bond, me and this little insect. I will miss it.

I keep one every year. I keep it in a cheap 10 gallon fishtank with a screen top.

Spray water on it once a day and keep some bugs in there with it.

Its pretty cool to see them stalk their prey.

I had a mantis over 6 inches long fly into my truck. It was free.

My daughter was young at the time and still talks about it. And, NO, it wasn't because I screamed like a little girl.

The thing was fricken huge!
