H.R.1388
Title: To reauthorize and reform the national service laws.

Thursday, March 19, 2009 The House passed a bill yesterday which includes disturbing language indicating young people will be forced to undertake mandatory national service programs as fears about President Barack Obamas promised civilian national security force intensify.

The Generations Invigorating Volunteerism and Education Act, known as the GIVE Act, was passed yesterday by a 321-105 House margin and a 74-14 Senate margin

UPDATE: Both Senate and House Pass HR1388

Senate Report: 74 to 14
House Report: 321-105

Explanation of the G.I.V.E act

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Es_59215X-g

Compulsory: Obligatory; required

http://www.govtrack.us/congress/billtext.xpd?bill=h111-1388

Look closely at section 6104(b)(5 & 6)

(5) The effect on the Nation, on those who serve, and on the families of those who serve, if all individuals in the United States were expected to perform national service or were required to perform a certain amount of national service.

(6) Whether a workable, fair, and reasonable mandatory service requirement for all able young people could be developed, and how such a requirement could be implemented in a manner that would strengthen the social fabric of the Nation and overcome civic challenges by bringing together people from diverse economic, ethnic, and educational backgrounds.

Still didn't sit well with me, so I decided to do more research on the "G.I.V.E" act (how clever!) . I mean, after all, how could this go hidden with little to NO mainstream coverage? So far, I couldn't debunk it.

Okay, now I'm getting worried.  It still seems way to absurd to be true...

Then I found this...

http://www.opencongress.org/bill/111-h1388/show

H.Amdt48 Pass Amendment numbered 10 printed in House Report 111-39 to create a National Service Reserve Corps and requires an annual service requirement of at least 10 hours and/or annual training. A member of the National Service Reserve Corps is one who has completed a term of national service, fulfilled training, and will respond to national disasters and other emergencies. These individuals will be listed in a national database for the ease of immediate deployment in case of emergency.
H.Amdt49 Pass Amendment to prohibit organizations from attempting to influence legislation; organize or engage in protests, petitions, boycotts, or strikes; and assist, promote, or deter union organizing.

http://www.thepeoplescube.com/images/Obama_Poster_ArbeitMachtFre.gif

Arbeit macht frei" is a German phrase meaning "work brings freedom" or "work shall set you free/will free you" or "work liberates" and, literally in English, "work makes (one) free". The slogan is known for being placed at the entrances to a number of Nazi concentration camps.

Slavery:#  The state of one bound in servitude as the property of a slaveholder or household.

  1. The practice of owning slaves.
  2. A mode of production in which slaves constitute the principal work force.

# The condition of being subject or addicted to a specified influence.

Quoting from another member on BodyBuilding.com- "Duckenheimer brings up a great point' http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showpost.php?p=306854441&postcount=89

Notice there's no date on any of this?

Look at Rahm Emanuals interviews on mandatory service for everyone aged 18-25. Notice he doesn't provide a date?

Notice the "Change" website did not provide a date before (or indeed, after) it edited the mandatory part in its references to youth service.

People can't answer what there is presently no answer to.

I saw a spade the other day, oh, I’m sorry, it was not a spade it was a pointed shovel. Most of the pro 1388 dialogue
here is putting sugar on shit, it still smells the same but for those that eat it, it only tastes a little sweeter.

Brother, I feel sorry for you dudes in Illinois.

Great linkage. Interesting read. Not liking the way that resolution sounds.  Wish there was a way to prove that there was nothing to worry about with Obama's trash.

The youtube video inflamed this guy . Making children sing praises to "Him...."

Rusty Shackleford may be making a comeback.

First off I didn't read the text of the bill.  Second, he will be gone in 4-8 years so what he does can be undone.  Third, my children are NOT going to any mandatory nonsense no matter what party wants it.  They can - as always - kiss my ass.

You can give incentives to get kids to volunteer, such as reimbursement on tuition.  Even then, it's a slippery slope.

But outright FORCING Middle School, High School and College kids to service there government is nothing less then TYRANNY.

 OpenCongress Summary:

The
Generations Invigorating Volunteerism and Education (GIVE) Act would
dramatically increase funding for AmeriCorps and other volunteer
programs, including those for seniors and veterans. It also establishes
a goal of expanding from 75,000 government-supported volunteers to
250,000, and would increase education funding and establish a summer
service program for students, paying $500 (which would be applied to
college costs) to high-school and middle-school student who participate.

In its current form, the legislation does not include a mandate requiring service.

SEC. 6104. DUTIES.

(a) General Purpose- The purpose of the Commission is to gather and analyze information in order to make recommendations to Congress to––

(1) improve the ability of individuals in the United States to serve others and, by doing so, to enhance our Nation and the global community;

(2) train leaders in public service organizations to better utilize individuals committed to national service and volunteerism as they manage human and fiscal resources;

(3) identify and offer solutions to the barriers that make it difficult for some individuals in the United States to volunteer or perform national service; and

(4) build on the foundation of service and volunteer opportunities that are currently available.

(b) Specific Topics- In carrying out its general purpose under subsection (a), the Commission shall address and analyze the following specific topics:

(1) The level of understanding about the current Federal, State, and local volunteer programs and opportunities for service among individuals in the United States.

(2) The issues that deter volunteerism and national service, particularly among young people, and how the identified issues can be overcome.

(3) Whether there is an appropriate role for Federal, State, and local governments in overcoming the issues that deter volunteerism and national service and, if appropriate, how to expand the relationships and partnerships between different levels of government in promoting volunteerism and national service.

(4) Whether existing databases are effective in matching community needs to would-be volunteers and service providers.

(7) The need for a public service academy, a 4-year institution that offers a federally funded undergraduate education with a focus on training future public sector leaders.

(8) The means to develop awareness of national service and volunteer opportunities at a young age by creating, expanding, and promoting service options for elementary and secondary school students, through service learning or other means, and by raising awareness of existing incentives.

(9) The effectiveness of establishing a training program on college campuses to recruit and educate college students for national service.

(10) The effect on United States diplomacy and foreign policy interests of expanding service opportunities abroad, such as the Peace Corps, and the degree of need and capacity abroad for an expansion.

(11) The constraints that service providers, nonprofit organizations, and State and local agencies face in utilizing federally funded volunteer programs, and how these constraints can be overcome.

(12) Whether current Federal volunteer programs are suited to address the special skills and needs of senior volunteers, and if not, how these programs can be improved such that the Federal Government can effectively promote service among the ‘baby boomer’ generation.

They are talking about forming a committee to address those issues, not an institution that will enact them.  Now, don't all run around like decapitated chickens yet.

By the way, this is from the House Reported version.  I'm trying to figure out if the text is even contained on the Senate portion.

This law creates a commission to study mandatory national service, it does not create a program to require mandatory service.

However, when mandatory service IS enacted, I'm sure that it will include language to the effect that you will NOT be able to graduate high school or college unless the educational institution has verified that you have completed the required service. I'm sure there will be a government database of registered and "acceptable" organizations, and of everyone who participates, for ease of verification.

This is correct.

The point being here - is - where are the lines drawn?  How far will the fed's flex their muscles?  It's one step at a time - just like the gun legislation being introduced.  They won't outright throw us in uniforms and make us work tomorrow.  If they did that, their would be an obvious revolt.  Just like anything else, they will slowly pass bills to get us used to the idea and tell us HOW GREAT IT IS!  (Just typing that sounds CRAZY! - but it's true)

If you deny participating, you will be labeled a terrorist.

It makes me happy that more and more states are declaring sovereignty from the feds.  Which in essence, means the right to exercise, within a territory, the functions of a state, exclusive of any other state, and subject to no authority other than international law.

The fact is, both Congress and Senate passed this bill.  What will they pass next?  It was also nowhere to be seen in the mainstream media - as if done on purpose.

Well over the majority of the people have NO idea about this bill.  Which bring up another point on how they could possibly even get away with this and vote.  Thank god for alternative media sources!

But hey, I suppose if you have control over the mass media outlets you have control on what the masses get to be informed of.  You know, Important things, like Chris Brown slapping around Fergie (or whatever her name is.)

Obviously anything that is implemented along these lines would be mandatory for legal residents registered with the selective service (or its "civilian corps" equivalent.)  I fail to see how this issue and illegals are connected.

I certainly hope that those chowderheads in Washington unfuck themselves, wake up, and realize this is a very bad idea.

Once this committee is formed we need to hit them hard expressing our opposition to this.  I'm sure many of the college students who voted for BHO aren't really socialists, just idiots who fell for his rockstar image.  Hopefully they will reject the notion that they should be forced to do anything.

What I suspect is that this could be a "fast track to citizenship" program that would make it easier for illegals to become legal, and then always vote Democrat.
