Ok we have all seen it many times - the pics of the murow(sp?) building with the vast majority of it gone.

The official report states that it was a truck bomb composed of fuel and fertilizer.

However, the bast appears to have been shaped - the blast effects the building in a very differerent manner than the ground under the truck.

Does anyone know of a pic of the opposite side of the street? Were the parked cars hurtled away from the scene (or blown to shit)?

Anyone have any additional info on this bombing?

I don't have a picture of the opposite side of the street, but from what I remember when I drove by, the building across the street was in really, really bad shape, too.  If I remember correctly, they said McVeigh had piled sandbags in the Ryder truck to shape the blast toward the federal building, but even so, two people were killed in the building across the street.  Even the YMCA building, which was almost a block away to the north, sustained pretty heavy damage from what I saw.

Do a few searches on google.  It's fairly easy to find all of the info you want and more.  I stayed up all night one night reading about this at various internet sites.  I promise you one thing, the more you read, the more questions you will have.  I don't know what to believe.

I found some pictures for you.

First one is of the parking lot north across the street from the federal building and just to the east of the Ryder truck.  What you see burning are cars in the parking lot.

Then northwest across the street is the Water Resources Board building (where two people died) and the Athenian building (where one person died).  I think it's the Water Resources building in this picture.  There is also a "parked" car.

Here's one looking west down Fifth Street.  On your right in the foreground you can see the parking lot across the street with the mangled cars and on your right in the background is the pile of rubble that is what's left of the front of the Athenian building.

And here is another one of the parking lot on the north side of Fifth Street.  Behind the parking lot, the building with its roof blown off is the Journal Record building.

And, finally, here's a view of the whole scene, although it doesn't seem to do justice based on what I saw in person.  For example, the YMCA building, which is the white building in the center background, appears to be unscathed, while in reality it was heavily damaged and scores of people were injured there.  But it does give you an idea of the relative damage to the various buildings that suffered severe damage and how the blast damaged the north side of the street.

That's a good map, sr15.  That corresponds very well with what I remember seeing in person.  I was shocked when I drove down Harvey and saw buildings basically collapsed two and three blocks away from the Murrah building.  I hadn't realized the force of the blast from seeing the pictures on TV, and I didn't realize the extensive damage to the surrounding area.  Seeing it in person was an awesome thing, hard to put words to.

i was under the hood of a 460 diesel one ton adjusting (bleeding)the ejectors when the bomb went off,  even with the ear deafing motor running the blast was felt bodily we thought that the farmers in the next section were blowing out stumps with dynamite. this was in wellston a good 40 miles from the city. my good friend charlie was mowing grass at the okc fairgrounds and he was on a tractor said it felt like somebody had slapped his face , thats how big the blast was!  i have a map of the city showing the under-ground subway up to the morrow bldg that was hanging on a post in the mirriad gardens  if you want a picture of it can send it.   don't know if any of this is what you want..
