I tell you what, I miss the old days when there was a bit more action and controversy. It's part of what I like about this board before I even registered.
It was fun! And even when I disagreed with someone, I never thought to myself "Self, I wish this person was banned. Or at the least the thread be locked." And the last thing on my mind was saving the "children" from reading any of it. Maybe I'm just more thick skinned than the average person. Or maybe I realize that there's more to the world than just discussions about god and guns. Oh well, it is what it is. Just have to deal with it. I guess there's the new AK board. And it is great. But it will never be the same as it was. For those of you who missed it...... .....It was fucking awesome! |

Back in the "good old days" when this place was hopping every night of the week..there was not a whole bunch of companies paying to advertise on a "firearms site". Times change..the site continues to grow and there is always the "other" gun boards where havoc reigns supreme.

Don't get me wrong. I know it costs money to run this site, and that involves sponsors. Sure, I agree that you cant' drive them away. Purely a business decision. But I've never once heard that as a reason for cracking down on the content of this site. It's always seemed to me to be for the most part a bunch of crybaby girly men who can't handle controversy of any sort. People who can't handle the idea of not clicking on a topic they don't want to see. "Oh my god! I didn't want to read that! Please ban it for the kids!" Anyway, I still enjoy the site for what it is. Probably the best info site on the net. Whether you're looking for info about guns or cars. But I still miss being able to talk about ANYTHING. |

I do kind of miss the flame wars. I miss the [b]ALL CAPS, BOLD YELLING OF HANGRIFE[/b], the egomaniacal McUzi ranting about his racial superiority, and the tow of them arguing like two girls bitch-slapping each other over who fathered their babies.
It gets kind of boring, but the talk about guns and current events is way above what it used to be. Besides, we still have Imbro and his "fan club" to keep us entertained. |

It must be tough for those who can’t make the cut. I suppose the worse of it came when this forum was joined by thousands of folk use to a more liberal board structure. Some here don’t remember the times before racist and porno threads weren’t permitted here and seem to think that it was the norm. Sorry, they couldn’t be more wrong. AR15.com was a place of sanity in an insane world. A true breath of fresh air. I can’t tell you the number of gun boards where the worse of peoples behavior rules. I have quit posting at a number of boards after they were dragged down by the worst of society’s ills. Like an infection that spreads from one body to the next AR15.com was also infected but successfully fought off the infection and is now better and stronger for it. If you want porno you’ll find 3.4 billion web sites for it. If you want hate sites I’m sure there are more than a few dozen of those and you’re welcome to them. If you want discussion about the AR-15 series of rifles you’ll find no better place than here. Those with $1500 a month to pony up to buy a T-1 and a server to run it are welcome to step up to the plate and create a playground for those who didn’t make the cut or who refuse to play by the rules of the game here. |

Well said Paul. Yes the BOTD type threads were around for awhile. But as with all "pushing the envelope" topics we would give an inch and a few would take 10 miles. Where do you draw the line?
Was it fair to expect the Mods to spend all their time here chasing the scat pictures and posts about how to make your AR full auto? I don't think so. Yes it might be a little boring at times..but as stated before. The quality of the topics are starting to come back. I for 1 like it a lot more like this. |

Late last night I caught just a part of some woman being grounded near a small town on 9/11. Apparently a small town but with a long runway somewhere around. Anyway turns out 793 passengers on several flights were grounded there for three days or so. The crumbag local Canadians set-up free phone banks for the passengers to call home, slept them in halls, homes, where ever, set-up televisions so they could see the continuing events and feed them. And would not take a nickel - for anything. Some of the 793 passengers are going to try and set-up some scholarship funds as a way of saying "Thanks !" Maybe you guys had heard of this kindness before but I had not. [smoke] |

You must mean Lunenberg. It's a small town not far from the Halifax airport where 40+ planes were grounded. There are a lot of stories like that. We Nova Scotian's have a long history of opening our homes to strangers in need.I read in the paper about a couple and their family who were on their way to Vegas to get married. A local woman heard about it and arranged for them to have their wedding in Halifax. She got tux's,wedding gown,catering,minister,honeymoon sweet at a local hotel and even 2 RCMP officers in their red serge tunics for the ceremony all donated. Swiss Air flight 111 is another case. Relatives of the victims were offered a place to stay by the people of the south shore while the search was going on. |
