Prices for handguns at the Ohio circuit shows have risen at least 50% since 9/11... and they're being snapped up regardless. It's apparently not regional, as I've spoken to other collectors, at it's a trend that's pretty much nationwide. Definitely a seller's market.

I'm really not suprised.

Actually, I'm a bit more suprised by the fact you were "shocked" by this.

Maybe the gunshows in your area are better than around here. But I'm used to seeing postban 16" Bushmasters for $975, and Century FAL's for $800.

I guess nothing at a gunshow suprises me anymore.

OMG!
last one I went to here still had Century fals for about $450!

Bushy's are running about $800 on average though...

I think they get their prices from the auction sites.  I'm constantly amazed at the minimum bids people put on some of their junk.  I'm more amazed at the morons who buy the junk.

Last show my friends & I went to in DFW seemed reasonable...sure some guys were trying to screw you on pricing but there were some dealers who were still selling arms at decent prices.

My buddy picked up a 20" Bushmaster for $750.00 plus tax...not bad IMO...& from the same outfit that I purchased my Bushy from a few years ago at the same price.

Everyone always bitches about the prices! Pretend you are in Mexico, work them down on the price! If you were not going to buy it anyway it doesnt matter how much it was. I have seen some crazy prices on stuff at the show as well, but the stuff I bought was fairly easy to negotiate to an acceptable price. You never know until you ask, and if the guy is a dick, who cares usually someone else is selling the same thing on another table!

Just went to a gun show yesterday:
USGI mags $35
Orlite mags $30

But I found USGI for $22

Colt SP1 preban for $1000 in good shape!
Crossroads Gun Show isn't too bad you just have to look around to find the normal prices.

how bout a bandolier of .223 for $45!  i had to look twice, and then a third time..for surplus ammo?  i can get black hills for lower than that.  i go for the attitudes, someone is always a dick, especially if i bring my girlfriend they make sure to get their comments in.  it's also fun to see sks for $300..a used sks that is.

I know what you mean.  I was shopping for a flattop upper and M4 barrel at the B'ham show today.

US Gun Parts had one (Armalite upper and Bushie barrel combo) but wanted $450 including handguards, but no bolt assembly or charging handle.  Plus tax.

I mean I've bought from Ashley before and like to give repeat business when I can but that seemed a little high to me so I passed.

OTOH I think I got a good deal on 9mm 124 gr FMJ ammo so I'm not really complaining.  I enjoy walking around gun shows even if I don't buy anything.

I was at the WAC show in Puyallup, WA yesterday, and some dweeb had AR-15 mags (not much finish left, in so-so condition) on his table for $47.95.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention -- also some idiot who had M3 "Grease Gun" magazines for $30 each.  He didn't even know what they were (except that they were "high capacity")!!!

I like going to gunshows to look around and to buy accesories, but I've never thought that there were that many good deals at them though. Alot of guys are dicks and won't be jewed down at all. I used to buy ammon at gunshows but even that now is more expensive then what you pay if you buy online.

On another note my cousin bought a postban colt ar 16" hb at a show in fall 1999 and he paid $1200 then he just bought another one (20" hb) last month at a show and he paid $850. He is still pissed that he paid 1200 the first time but at the time that's what everyone was charging. My question is why does it seem like colt prices fluctuate for no reason like this ?

The big ones in the Houston area are usually okay. Prices seem to be reasonable at the Astrohall and Arena.

I guess I'm just lucky that we have good gunshow prices here in Ohio.  Examples:

- Colt M1991A1 (new) with Bomar sights, Videcki trigger and wood stocks, $600

- 7.62x39mm SAR (new), $325

- 500 rounds of Wolf 9x19mm ammo, $44

I can find the deals... I just don't have the cash! [>Q]

I just go for the free jerky samples.

This being Kalifornia, that's about only thing left to buy, anyway, until they pass the a-salted snack ban.

I go to GUN SHOWS to see all the Craft tables and Beanie Babies. The Jerky, surplus JUNK tables and a few ridicously priced guns (I don't know why they get mad when I laugh at them when they tell me a price) are only a bonus. [rolleyes]

The one that really jumped out at me last weekend was the genius with a Universal M1 carbine on his table.... with a $450 price tag on it.  Trolling for morons?
