I bought one back in December as a inexpensive plinker. Thus far its a great little rifle, only down side is that the pin that holds the tube magazine in place gets loose and that the tube comes off the rifle every once in a while. Aside from this,I absolutley love the thing, which is ironic in that I also own a Colt SP1 and a Garand. So what does Arfcom think of the little Marlin?

I bought a 10/22 to replace my model 60, then got rid of the 10/22 because it didn't shoot as well as the Marlin.
In a nutshell, I love mine. I picked it up in a deal where for $35 I got the rifle and a small air compressor... |

Model 60 is an awesome rifle. Keep it clean and it'll run forever. I've had mine for 30+ years.

My dad bought me one used from a pawn shop 30 years ago. I still have it my kids shoot it all the time.
A great gun for the money. |

The action in the Marlin 60 is too cheesy, and difficult to clean...

It is my favorite .22 autoloader, I am shopping for another one now. I am dumping my 10/22 I have had 13 years.

Awesome little plinkers. My friends and I used to set up discarded shotgun hulls and knock 'em over from a ways back with my buddy's Marlin when we were kids.

I have a Ruger 10/22 and a Marlin Model 60...I will grab the Marlin every time...the 10/22 spends all it's time in the safe.

Mine is the first gun I was given. I'll never get rid of it.
I've done some mods to reduce the trigger pull and take out the precreep and over-travel. Now it shoots rather well. Not as well as my Mossy M44US, but still pretty damn good. |

yes. 10-22 has full after market support. Back in the day the Marlin gave it a run for it's money.
I had a little Marlin 717 17HM2 autoloader a few years back that really blew up the starlings and blackbirds at the wifes feeders for awhile. She kinda got upset and I gave it to a friends son. I think Marlin dropped the model, really ashame as it would blow starlings up at 30 yards

A pain to clean, but most .22's are. Otherwise the gun is good to go. Ilike the 10-22 just a little bit better because of the rotary mag. It is akward to reload the Model 60 when you are prone shooting at gophers.

I don't like marlin 60's are junk sorry the truth hurts. and yes I use to have one still junk. I meet a old gunsmith he told me they should have only made one and hung it on the wall and put sign under the modle 60 that said never make these again never.
I don't like 22 that are not 100% metal I have a 1950's mossy 152 k for cheap pinking $150 and a 1971 Browning BAR 22 that was $250 bucks Ruger 10/22 is a far better choice |

I have had plenty. There are plenty of others that are better and easier to clean. My favorite is a Winchester Model 190. Never had a jam with it, and I am notorious for poor cleaning habits. |

Don't have one, but have shot and taken apart ones belonging to friends and family members. I like them well enough, but doubt I will ever get one since I'm happy with my 10/22. |

I may have to covert one of my 10-22's to HM2 in the future. |

First gun I ever bought. The day I turned 18 I went to Kmart got it. I couldn't pick it up until the next day due to the crappy waiting period here. I still have it 28 years later and even though I have over 30 other 22s, I still love bringing it out and shooting it.
It has been flawless with the exception of the cartridge lifter spring which failed the first year I had it. I made a new one from a safety pin and it's still there and working. |

I got one several years ago from a pawn shop, the Model 60 with the Stainless Barrel. I LOVE IT!!
I've put tens of thousands of rounds through it, and had maybe a handful of jams. Those were because I was using some bad ammo, the bullet was loose in the case and would wiggle on the feed ramp, causing the jam. I never had a jam because of anything else, once I got rid of that bad box of Federal I had no problems. It's a tack driver too. Benched, it'll make one ragged hole on paper at 30 yds. |

the greatest .22 rifle ever designed.
my father and i were talking last week about the rifle that Santa brought me 30 years ago when i was 8 and how many rounds have been shot out it. my fathers figured at least half a millon rounds, when i scoffed at it. he replied, you shot 1500 rounds the first day you ever shot it. some people buy .22 rounds by the box. some by the brick. i bought them by the case. it looks like hell now, but is still a good shooter with minimal cleaning even with nasty .22 fouling. my only beef was the sights. |

I aquired one years ago that didn't work. I fixed it but never shot it since I didn't have much interest in .22s.
Then my at the time 8 yo niece expressed interest in going shooting with her dad and I so I ended up shorting the stock a little for her, tossed a cheap scope on it and gave it to her. It works fine and is pretty accurate. Just need a squirt of clp once in a while on the bolt to keep it going since it rarely gets cleaned. |

Scoped. I took the front blade of during high school after I put a scope on it. I'll put a decent scope on it this summer. |

Nothing fancy and doesn't use tacticool clips but a DAMN good rifle.
I bought mine at age 18. It's my son's now and he loves it. STILL a tack driver at 100yards. |

I got one a few years ago for $30 off the used rack, It was pretty cruddy, but I tore it all down, cleaned it up, put one of thos cheap 4x blazer scopes on it, took it to the range, and it shoots pretty damn good. I like it.

They used to sell them in the Sears and Montgomery Ward's catalogs. Anyone remember them? When I was 23 or so, I was pretty poor. But my neighbor had won a Model 60 in a raffle and offered it to me for $75. I bought it and still have it. It was the second gun I ever owned. Great, reliable, accurate little rifle. Still have it and probably always will. |

My first rifle was a marlin model 60, my grandfather gave it to me when I was 9.
He died last year, I miss him everyday and that rifle will be with me for as long as I live.

I've seen others where people just blobbed some epoxy on there to hold them in place. Looked terrible, but it worked. They also don't do well with the dirty powders. I could shoot all day with Wildcats, but run some Thunderbolts or Lightnings through there and it'll gunk up very quickly. I prefer lever action and bolt action rifles, but the Marlin/Glenfield Model 60 is good gun. Fun to shoot, and accurate if you can keep the front site/mag tube on there. |
