I'm always seeing the announcement for it on the MS site when I go there for downloads, but have yet to do it. Should I, or is it another Bill Gates scheme for more world domination of the interwebz?

ETA. 6k wasted on this?

I downloaded it last summer because the website for the Olympics required it to watch online videos of the games. I've since removed it. Haven't found any other need for it.

I downloaded it to run with Netflix instant. It sucks. Wish I could just use media player instead. I will be cancelling my Netflix trial because of it.

Silverlight is a tool for creating animations and general manipulation of graphics.  The program information is stored in XML and it can be programmed to do most anything from a graphics standpoint.  For the end user this does not mean much, for a developer, it is another tool in the tool box.

I refuse to visit any site that uses it.  I don't have it installed.

Fuck MS.

I don't like flash.  So this is Microsoft's answer to flash.  Just another program to block.  /sigh

For me it seems to mess up streaming radio over the Internet. I end up uninstalling it and go back to Media Player.
