Is this pistol IPSC competition legal?
I want to shoot it in IPSC standard competition, but I don't know for sure if this is a good pistol for it. I mean, are the dimensions for it legal (box fit, etc.)?
It is a:

Springfield Armory 1911A1 - 9mm
Stainless Steel PX9130L
Caliber: 9mm
Capacity: 9+1
Barrel: 5", 1:16 RH
Sights: Novak® Patented Low Mount
Sight Radius: 6.75"
Size: 38 ozs., 8.5" overall length
Trigger Pull: 5 to 6 lbs.
Magazines: 2
MSRP: $837.00 (My dealer will be getting it for much less for me. We know each other on a 1st name basis pretty well, since I bring him so much business, being a shooting club VP & publicity manager).
I know I will make the following modifications to it for sure:
Extended Slide Release
Extended Safety
Trigger Adjustment/Replacement
I do not really want to do IPSC for the competition of it, as I am a passive and lack that egotistical desire to be "THE BEST" at shooting. I would just like to improve my skills at shooting in "Freestyle" or somewhat "Practical" ways... I will obviously have to practice A LOT! Right now I just practice three shot pseudo-bursts.
One Head, Two C.O.M. (Repeat As Necessary or Until Empty)
I am getting pretty good at it, but I never draw from a holster, etc... I'd like to improve in skill, but it's hard to do so, when for me, .45 ACP is too much for fast follow-up shots & reacquiring the target.
Obviously, being a poor college student, I cannot afford this until about next summer, but I would like to start putting money away for it, and when I get enough money, I will then know whether or not this is what I want...
