Same here Guzzler, we still celebrate the holiday but not the commercial aspect of it. we use this time to get the family together, enjoy the company, friendships and a hearty community prepared meal ( and the suffering afterwards [:D] ) this is our time to rekindle the family bond that seems to slip away to an extent through out the year.

If someone defines "celebrate Christmas" as putting lights up and decorating a tree, I would suggest that that person is missing the point of the holiday.

I'm not putting up a tree or lights this year. We did get the kids some stuff, but mostly we will just spend the day with friends and family. Maybe go shooting or play in the snow if there is any left nearby.
It just doesn't feel much like Christmas this year. |

I will be with my family this year, my parents and brother. First Christmas in seven years without my ex-girlfriend. Both my parents and brother make sure I won't be alone this Christmas. Have put up a tree, also a first since she did that every year. This Christmas is different for me any way you look at it.
Although the thought had crossed my mind to just get shitfaced and silly and howl at the moon and end up with someone who looked far more prettier when I was drunk..to be honest I like the first scenario better. Kuiper |

What's not to celebrate?
The birth of a Savior. Simple as that. And of course, there's the family aspect. Miz Hun and I are planning Christmas dinner for, let's see, fifteen Huns. Miz Hun goes a tad overboard in decorating the house - it looks like a Christmas store in here. But the grandchildren wouldn't have it any other way, and, truth be told, neither would we! Whatsamatta you? Got no Christmas Spirit? C'mon, get with the program! If you don't have family or friends, take a turn assisting at the downtown soup kitchens on Christmas Day and see what you're missing! Where in God's name did you folks grow up? We are total secularists. The family goes gambling and drinking on Christmas Eve and hand out the loot on Christmas Day, start the drinking and eating. About as religious as it gets is grace before the meal.

I celebrate Christmas as simply a somewhat enjoyable holiday.
As for it being the birthday of Jesus, I don't care about that at all. Santa, family, friends and food. |

No CHristmas celebrations here. My wife and I have been married for 5 years and together for 7. We have NEVER had a Christmas tree or decorations.

I do Hanukkah, the wife does a secular Christmas. We put up holiday lights, and food is food. Santa has a beard, wears a hat, works on Christmas Day, he isa Jew! Merry Christmas to all

With all the commercialism and secularism, we need to remind ourselves of the "reason for the season" - the birth of our savior. I know that as for me and my house we will be reading the Christmas Story (Matthew 1:18 - 2:14) before exchanging presents. |
