SBC is a telecom that formed from the merger of several baby-bells such as SouthWestern Bell, Nevada Bell, Pacific Bell, Snet, and Ameritech. SBC has been fighting some liberal congressman over gaining FCC permission to offer Long Distance service in several states. The battle has been a very long one.

11/13/2001 - SBC announces FCC approval to provide long distance service in key states.

11/19/2001 - William M. Daley appointed President of SBC reporting to Ed Whitacre, CEO.
