I don't celebrate Kwanzaa, I celebrate Mewanzaa. It is a holiday that is discriminatory towards blacks, orientals and people of middle eastern descent. It is discriminatory towards women, the young and the elderly. It is the most politically incorrect holiday that I celebrate all year, because it is just for me. Nobody else is invited to celebrate nor are you welcome. It is all mine and I will not share. I hope you are offended because I don't care. Everyone should have their own Mewanzaa type holiday, but you will have to call it something else because Mewanzaa is mine.

I officially declare tomorrow my own personal holiday, Mewanzaa!

Happy Mewanzaa to me! Screw you!

Love that flag.  Brings tears to my eyes every time I see it.  I prefer the Stars and Bars for display over the CBF, but they are both beautiful.

Oh yeah:

Why does Nat X only have the only 15 minute TV show?  The man would never give a black man 30!

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is a winner!

BTW:
You guys that celebrate Mewannza; if you can filter and distill your hate into just one 24 hour holiday per year, that's GREAT!  But at some point during the remaining 364 days, 99% of the population will eventually end up seeing you as a "liberal".

And so this is the first holliday that was started from something less that virtuous.

Now go cut down a tree for Christmas. Not that that was really a sacred thing to start with. Oh, go dress up your little rugrats for Halloween since that one has such a strong Christian origin. And then again, you can take the holliday that represents the etc, etc, etc.

Kwanzaa has come to mean very positive things regardless of what people say about its origin. This is just a good example of the nature of humanity, at its best, to take something and turn it around to become positive. If you guys would pull your heads out of your asses long enough to take a realistic look at it you would see this.

Oh, I forgot, at some point in your past some black person made you fell uncomfortable, uncool, or just unloved. Now you got nothing better than to make fun of something they do. I think this was the same way that that Adolph Hitler guy got irritated with the jews.

Now go home and kick your momma in the ass for not raising you any smarter than this. Or was she too busy hanging out with the seventh fleet???

Now just what makes you think all mommas are like yours? [:D]

Now for the truth and translations [;)]:

Kwanzaa is based on the Nguzo Saba (seven guiding principles), one for each day of the observance, and is celebrated
from December 26th to January 1st.

Umoja:  Unity stresses the importance of togetherness for the family and the community, which is reflected in the African saying, "I am We," or "I am because We are." "We are Borg" = Kwanzaa

Kujichagulia:  Self-Determination requires that we define our common interests and make decisions that are in the best interest of our family and community. BULLSH!T - "The needs of the community outweigh the needs of me" = Kwanzaa

Ujima:  Collective Work and Responsibility reminds us of our obligation to the past, present and future, and that we have a role to play in the community, society, and world. HORSESH!T - Collectivism/Marxism/Socialism = Kwanzaa

Ujamaa:  Cooperative economics emphasizes our collective economic strength and encourages us to meet common needs through mutual support. ZULUSH!T - Gov't Control of Property/Business = Kwanzaa

Nia:  Purpose encourages us to look within ourselves and to set personal goals that are beneficial to the community. ELEPHANTSH!T - The individual works for, and is subordinate to, the greater collective = Kwanzaa

Kuumba: Creativity makes use of our creative energies to build and maintain a strong and vibrant community. HERDS-OF-ELEPHANTSH!T - "From each according to their abilities, to each according to their need" = Kwanzaa

Imani: Faith focuses on honoring the best of our traditions, draws upon the best in ourselves, and helps us strive for a higher level of life for humankind, by affirming our self-worth and confidence in our ability to succeed and triumph in righteous struggle. AFRIKAANASH!T- Affirm our self-worth by keeping racial quotas = Kwanzaa

Kwanzaa is Collectivism.
Kwanzaa is Socialism.
Kwanzaa is a Marxist grab for the "hearts and minds" of the most gullible of the dumbest of the masses.

P.S. Happy Festivus dogboy [:)]

However the celebration started, or regardless of who started it, Kwanzaa has had a positive affect for many folks and communities.  You can denegrate it all the day long, but that does not diminish its value to the people who recognize it.

I would offer an perspective on Kwanzaa's benefits but somehow I feel that it would be wasted on those who may need to hear it most.  Your minds are already closed and bolted shut.

My opinion on Star & Bars:  Its a symbol that represents many things for many people.  For some its a reminder of thier southern heritage.  To others its a banner proclaiming thier political and social ideology.  As a black man I am not offended by it in the least.  That maybe because my mind is open to what is of value to others.

The Macallan, you see Kawazaa as communism, that's a reach.  However, if the white executives running Enron had taken those principles to heart maybe so many lives (mostly white folks)wouldn't have been ruined.

The_Macallen,

All your interpretations are just that, your interpretations. It's funny how you take these goals and then interpret them to some extreme as to promote them as evil. They are basic goals to promote the advancement of a society. The joining of forces by a commonality of interests. Basically "society". The relevence or applicability to single out Kwanzaa for this critisizm is without justification from an objective perspective. Therefore the only remaining agenda item would seem to be be racism. I see no other.

But then again, maybe you are just anti-society. Well then you need to find a shack out in the sticks somewhere and marry your sister. You'll be happy there and won't even have to pay taxes.

I think it's nice that it can be recognized as a holiday for everybody though. When was the last time somebody was invited by a Jew to celebrate Hanukkah with them?

I don't see how anybody could be hurt by someone adding on more holidays to the calendar.

retrodog and Ponyboy - Surely you both jest!

I mean, really, the Black community doesn't need some animistic b.s. to make them have some sort of sense of community...

They have their Christian Churches which have served them well since the founding of this country.

The Christian churches were the foundation of the Abolitionst movment and the Civil Rights movement.

The only reason that this dork founded a new African(?)-based holiday is most likely because no decent Black Church that knew anything of his character would let him come in through the front door!

And BTW I went shopping with a Jew last evening and he never once uttered the word 'Hannukah' - you know why? He's from Israel and that 'holy day' is just another date on the calendar to most Israelis.

It's American Jewry that's embraced Hannukah as a counter-balance to Christmas.

My friend 'Shaul' even bought some 'Christmas presents' for his daughter. (His words, not mine!)

I'm not saying that I endorse any holiday over any other, but I don't have anything against any of them. Actually, my brother in law, who is Jewish, is comming down here from Colorado to spend Christmas and New Year with me and he celebrates Christmas just like anyone else with all of the Hanukkah stuff thrown on top of it.

What I'm trying to get at, is that I'm an equal opportunity celebrator. I don't celebrate Kwanzaa, but I won't fault anybody else for celebrating it either. Just like I don't care about the engineer at work that takes off every Friday as a "prayer" day....Whatever floats his boat. As long as you don't bother me, I don't really give a shit what you do.

Ah Eric, now you're telling a bunch of people what they should celebrate or what religion that is good enough for them. Well that's just swell. Isn't this what the people in England told the pilgrims? Why the hell did they need to come over here afterall. Just a boatload of Jehovah'a witnesses or what? [:D]

But you go on telling people who they should pray to and what they should celebrate guys. But this sounds like liberal mentality to me. Religious persecution is a bad thing, so stop it now before you become what you always preach against.

And stop flying the confederate flag. That's the same as stomping on the US flag. You don't see the contradiction. Well that's just all new levels of rationalization.

You are the liberal here. Telling others what they can and can't celebrate by persecution and distorting the facts. And these documents that you refer to are good ones. But then again, they weren't necessarily the ideas of a bunch of dead white guys. They, like the articles of confederatin, are a combinations of Brittish common law and those of the native American tribes. The old dead white guys just plajerised the stuff for the most part. They were too busy raping slaves and combing their wigs to actually think anything up this profound. But seriously, I do indeed respect the founding fathers but there is much more to the origin of this country that what you simplify it too. And now you poke fun of this Kwanzaa celebration for its original meaning while referencing historical events that you probably never studied past 6th grade to see how much of a hypocrit your ravings make you sound.

And you don't even see that your attempts to persecute others for what they believe makes you a true liberal hypocrit in this case.

So you just go on preaching freedom of religion and such. But from now on be sure to mention that others have got all this freedom just as long as they choose the same as you.

Oh and I appreciate you telling me to move somewhere else. That's just how the pilgrims ended up here. Someone like you was telling them what they could and couldn't celebrate and where to go to church. So now you have become the ones who our ancestors were escaping from when they came here. CONGRADULATIONS, YOU GET THE BUTTHEAD OF THE YEAR AWARD. [:D]

Why do you guys care? Why go looking for something to bitch about? Are we this bored? Are we this hypocritical? I thought that very foundation of this country was to protect teh rights of others to have their own beliefs. So even if it was only an African thing who cares? Hell, I even celebrate Cinco de Mayo down here and that is Mexican independence, but the margaritas are good and so's the food.

Why is it even being discussed? Why should we care. I don't care what they are celebrating, since it isn't promoting harm to anyone. I just care that others are mocking it and persecuting those who choose to celebrate it.

Hey, you wanna get together to bitch about the white man and go shootin sometime?

Oh, by the way, the Cherokee were never really at war with the US. Our ancestors got screwed over by them on several occasions. Hell they even ended up in Oklahoma cause the US president took their lands away and tried to give them to the rich southern landowners, in hopes of pacifying them and influence them to not try to leave the union. The yanks took away the land from our ancestors and gave it to the confederates. Then they never gave it back. They marched our ancestors all off to Oklahoma on the Trail of Tears and really screwed them over. But we were never really at war against the US. That's why it isn't really a contradiction to be a US citizen and still fly the Cherokee flag. There is a difference.

Well, if you are comming though during daylight I'll be at work at Texas Instruments on the left right before you get into town, so just wave when you go by. Otherwise I'll probably be at home which will be on your left right past the highschool football stadium and before you pass the first burger king. I can hear you honk on the highway from my house.

Have a nice trip.

Good article.....what a bunch of bulls##t....that is... people inventing holidays randomly for their own power movement. Ask for a minute what would happen if a "White" holiday was established simply for "White" heritage................oh yeah that would make all white people instant racist bigots or some sh##............Gotta say I like Ponyboys idea for MEwanza....

Yeah, maybe you have a point there. There's always an ulterior motive to many things. Just too bad that people don't get around to bitching about it till it has evolved into meaning something good to others.
