i think it's disgusting that the evidence was destroyed.

but i think it's even more disgusting that the author of the article assumes certain guesses to be truth.

In any case, there were two positive hits for explosive residue, evidence that a missile had exploded near the plane.

hardly.  

the guy should have stuck to the facts of the NTSB throwing out good evidence.  period.  his addition of his opinions of the cause of TWA 800's crash sorely hurt his credibility with me.  speculating that there were reasons to hide the evidence and later destroy it are one thing (like a missile attack).  but this guys acts like he's got irrefutable proof that the government's explanation is wrong.  yet he didn't give any.

FWIW, i don't buy the government's explanation either.  but this is a prime example of irresponsible journalism.
