I'd be the idiot in the boat that reaches out his hand to pet it.  "What a cute little bastard you are!"

"Oh fuck, my hand!  Arrrrgh"

That was cool.  And to think they were in an inflatable.  How easy would it have been for the KW to capsize that?

If the whales wanted to they could have been dining on researchers instead of chasing a penguin.

They missed a perfect opportunity to hand feed a Killer Whale.

I would have knocked its ass back into the water.  Whales go onto icebergs to catch prey.

Why were they hippies? They didn't seem the least bit upset that the whales were eating the penguins, and they purposely avoided touching the penguin. They just looked like researchers to me.

eh, i dont know.  It just made me think of people like Greenpeace floating around screaming about pollution. YMMV.

Somehow the whole "Oh look!  a killer whale feeding frenzy!! Let's get closer!!" mindset just escapes me.

The little bastard was looking at the people like "Dude, those motherfuckers were trying to eat my shit! Can you guys give me a lift to shore?"

They didn't seemed to concerned about being capsized.   I think I even heard them say the whales knew the penguin was in the boat.   Would it be inconceivable that orca might have made a go for the penguin and dumped them all out into the freezing water?  I'd be booting that penguin off straight away just in case!

I do not think they were trying to kill the penguin, it looked like they were teaching the young.

They had to be hippies, who else would wear sandals in that climate?

I would have been a little uneasy about the little fella being in the boat.  I wouldn't have wanted one of those killer whales to flop its ass in the boat too!

Wearing sandals in an inflatable with killer whales is a dead giveway.

If it was a Disney flick, with "happy" music playing in the background, the narrator would say something like, "Watch how the penguin leads the killer whales on a playful chase.  Friendship among different species is not unknown in the wild."
