It's just us guys, we're the only people left on earth. Arfcom is now the only way we have to communicate.

Well since its so quiet, ive got a statement/question. Im looking forward to the army soon, like 11 pounds to go soon. At least to my goal of 240. Stnading outside it cold and quiet. After reading the creepy thread and letting my mind wander, i was standing out on the balcony. The hair on my neck stood up. There was a tangible tension around me.

I wonder, in the army, what are the chances of me being this alone? How far can the mind alone, push a man to feel so uneasy, jumpy and threatened, without any forseeable threat? Even if i was in the states, within feet of others unknown to what my thoughts are? How far could my mind take me without any help from acholhol or other substance? If i were to open my mind and let the thoughts flow, could it push me to unholster my weapon, or disengage the safety of my rifle, for no other reason than i was thinking too much?

Where does one draw the line, between "my gut tells me that i should i should load up and prepare for the worst, ive seen this before" and when youve just read too many ghost stories at the wrong hour?

But how experienced are my "instincts"? How do I know if I'm just trying to be tough, or if the "primal brain" senses something the rest of me does not?

And then, how common is what I feel? Am I psychotic? Or a schizophreonic? Maybe these thing are telling me that a life around weapons and fighting isn't something i should persue? Do other have these same thoughts? And finally, how many will say "I don't want you in my unit? Youre insane, put the toys away and go to sleep." Maybe the army isnt for you. Things like this will fail you on a psych eval.

Maybe arfcom has gotten to me. Or maybe its out to get me?

Im deeply rooted in faith. Ive read a book recently calle The Faith of The American Soldier. It talks about how a lot of todays service men have built their own religeon, taking whats helps them from all religeons and puttting it into something that is uniquely theirs. One part of the bible helped my grandfather on my dad's side in korea. He asked himself if he could take a life if need be. He only spoke of this to me once, shortly before he passed. He wouldnt give me any detail, but said his time finally came and the only thing that came to his mind was give unto ceasar, whats is ceasars.

And now i fear hitting submit. What will arf think of me? After all the Internetz are serious business. And this guy has seen it all. From the fall of rome, to the first non white us president. I was there when the germans bombed pearl harbor, and when buzz arstrong landed on the moon. Ive seen the invention of the telephone to its obscellesence. Ive watched my brand new desktop computer get outdated in 6 months.

But when has ceasar claimed to much? How do I know that when i say he can have my gun when he pries it from my cold, dead hands, that i really mean it? and that i have been influenced by the space shuttle door gunner's tales of heroic exploits? How can i be sure i will stand up and be counted among those who will not go quietly into the night?

And how odd is it that i finally come crashing back into reality, just because my laptop pops up a window saying my battery is low. I guess the mind can play tricks on you, if you let it.
