http://www.engadget.com/2008/11/21/razr-stops-a-bullet-its-owner-reports-feeling-lucky/

New Orleans resident Ronald Richard was mowing the lawn when he felt a hard object hit him in the chest –– precisely where he'd been keeping his pink Swarovski-encrusted (just kidding) RAZR. It was only after Richard took off his sweater that he discovered the .45-caliber slug and realized that the phone had literally taken a bullet for him. According to paramedics, the angle of the bullet and the modest stopping power of the cellphone were all that stood between the man and serious injury or even death. Instead, this lucky gent got away with little more than a fairly significant bruise and an excuse to pick up that Aura he's been coveting.

The bigger question is who was shooting at him, and why?

Has O_P done a Cell-o-truth yet?

I wonder how far away that bullet was fired?

BS...

I've seen one get drilled straight through by a .32 spl from 25 yds.

There's no way it could stop the mighty .45

The blue jacket wraps tightly around the RAZR, so why don't those holes align?

FYI: I know they don't stop M855.

If it hit at the right angle and was far enough way...

Does that look like a black powder ball?

I'm thinking that bullet was likely very near the end of it's flight path by the time it hit him.

the hole in the blue cover shows the motorola logo through it i'm pretty sure

ETA: which then begs me to answer why is that blue cover in pristine condition and a minor dent on the aluminum on the phone??

Hrmmm....

I heard the story, it couldn't have been a .45 ACP round...most likely a .45 black powder ball.

I think what saved him was his proper execution of a 45 degree blade.

So much for big and slow...damn .45 fails again.

From what I have heard it was a hunter's 45-70 and not a .45ACP. 45-70 is relatively slow and probably was nearly spent. It still had a huge amount of inertia behind it though.

im glad i have a handgun in .40 s&w.  i knew that the .45 round was
way to slow to penetrate anything of real significance.

How far away was it? had the bullet already penetrated something (or someone, I suppose) before it reached him? Did it bounce off anything before he was struck?

I want details!

He's lucky it wasn't a 10 mm.
