I finally got a chance to take my 6920 out yesterday with its ta31rco. I don't have the best eyes, so I'm not going to brag about how well I shot, but how well do you guys do?

I was shooting about 1.5-2" with some pmc the other day. Mine is a TA33 and i did not have a real good target or rest.

I was also able to bang a 400 yd steel pretty regularly but I have no idea how big it is. Probably 10 or 12 inches

Now that you have 1/2 the secret with the ACOG, go get a 2-stage match trigger. Your MOA then, will make you a true believer.

When I had it on a rifle with a match barrel, trigger and ammo, i got sub MOA out of my TA01NSN. On my 6920, I get more like 1.5" with good ammo on out to 2-3" with surplus ammo.

Here's a 100 yard (small target) and 200 yard target (large target) I shot with my unmodified Colt Tactical Carbine 16", 4X ACOG, using M193 Privi Partizan (from a bench). The group on the 100 yard target measures exactly 2 inches. The 200 yard target is about a 7 inch group.

I'm an old guy with bad eyesight, which makes shooting at 200 yards kinda hard for me. I think the 200 yard group could be improved by someone with good eyesight. I think the 100 yard group is about as good as it's gonna get with the surplus ammo I'm using and factory trigger.

I got a 5/8" 4 shot group at 100 yds. off a bench through a 16" noveske with an RCO.

However the weather was perfect, no wind, and I haven't done it again since.

I find precision shooting tough with my Acogs.

With My TA01 i can consistantly shoot 1.25" groups.

With the Ta31 and 77Gn OTM i average about 3.40" due to the donut being not very precise.

With the TA47's low magnification and using the tip of the triangle I average about 3"

By contrast with my Leopold i can shoot sub 0.4" groups all day with Fed GMM.

YMMV

I'm not a great shot by any definition. But i shoot much better with a simple cross hair than with any of the ACOG's i have tried.

Get your glasses, good ammo and hold steady. Practice is key, I warm up with surplus and later will slap some fed gm ammo in when I feel I'm ready to tighten up a bragging rights group. Federal 193 doesn't do to bad either or win 3131.

I think your better than you think. From the looks of your 200 yds target you have 3 or 4 nice groups. I think you floated your point of aim a bit.

Best I have been able to do with my TAO1NSN is 1.25" @ 100 yards. Five shot group with 68gr Blackhills red box. Any lighter or any heavier, groups will start to suck.........it is a finicky barrel. I keep going back and forth on either keeping it or selling it (the ACOG that is)

3 round group with my wife's 20" AR, scoped with a TA01. Ammo was PPU 55gr.

1st cold bore round is in the target, the next 2 are above the marker. BSW

Your ACOG will just show you how much you're off target.

Last week was the first time I shot my RRA AR15A4 NM with a TA01ECOS on top shooting 75 grain PPU. I did an inch and a half. I know if I had taken my time, under 1 MOA would have been very possible.

Here are two 5rd groups (suppressed and unsuppresed) with BH 75gr and a TA11 ACOG, the "oops" shot is a shot on the wrong diamond as I was working the corners - the downside of tighter field of view on the TA11.

Here are some more typical 5rd groups where I didn't spend as much time on precision.

Both groups were shot using a Grippod with the bipod deployed, TA11 ACOG (donut reticle), stock Bushmaster trigger, and i-SHOT case for support under the rear grip. The top target was shot from prone. The bottom target was shot from the bench.

When I look through my ACOG, this is what I see:

It's kind of the same "starburst" effect I see at night with headlights, streetlights, etc. But the end result is a double chevron and its hard for me to see exactly the point of aim.

You are getting "bloom" off or your chevron. You need to cover up about 1/2 to 3/4 of your BAC with duct tape or something. That should fix it...depending on the amount of light outside.

THIS.... its the red fiber optic on top you are covering with the tape (BAC refers to Bindon Aiming Concept), I know this is what you meant. Anyway like you said, cover enough so that the red chevron loses its glow and looks dark red. you will be surprised how much of a difference this makes.

That's better than the NSN model.

The NSN is great for precision firing, but is shit for fast acquisition and engagement.
And the tritium is shit in the dark. It takes minutes to get used to the low illuminaition and even then is hard to acquire.
And don't get me started on the stupid backup sights.

I sold mine and kept my Aimpoint.
After this build, I may put a TA31 back on my more precise rifle.

I agree. That's my problem at 200 yards. I can't get the Chevron in good enough focus to be able to place it in the same vertical position every time. So my groups are stringing vertically. With my old eyes the ability to focus comes and goes and gets worse the more rounds I fire. I can fire about 3 rounds and then my eyes start to get strained and the focus goes to hell. I could probably do much better if I shot 3 rounds, and then waited a few minutes and fired 3 more. I'll try that next time.
