How do the lesser models stack up against their expected adversaries?

Quoted:
The USAF is saying $8.3 Billion worth; $83 Million per airplane.  So, given the track record of the USAF and LM on the program so far, an estimate of $16.6 Billion is probably not out of line, and I know for damn sure the software estimate might as well be doubled to $4 Billion.

I'm looking to find precisely what changes are planned.  I'm guessing there will be new aft fuselages, maybe wings, probably subsystems, and almost certainly low observable treatments.  But that's just an educated guess.

Interesting choice.  Buy 50 to 100 new airplanes, or modify 100 used airplanes.

Well, OBVIOUSLY, they are just trying to load them with Vista...

You mean starting production before the design is finalized is a bad idea? The hell you say.

The Navy does it too. See LCS and LPD-17. It's fucking stupid.

Another fine example of Gov't wisdom when it comes to spending the taxpayer dollar.
