Seems every time I buy ammo at WalMart I am also buying some other needed item that, when paired with the box of ammunition, raises an eyebrow from shoppers and the cashier.
The thing is, I never think about it until I see someone givin' me the stink eye and I say to myself. "what the hell is that lady looking at me like that for?"  Then I notice that I've got a box of .45acp and a huge roll of duct tape on the conveyor belt.

I'm serious. Once it was ammo and duct tape. Another time it was ammo and a sympathy card for friend whose dad had passed away. Maybe I need to start buying more stuff to sort of dilute the ammo purchase.

Anyone else? What would be the strangest/funniest thing to be buying along with an ammo purchase?

Buying apples, rat poison and razor blades on Halloween is always fun.

ETA: I think the last time I bought ammo at Wally World I was buying about 6 boxes of WWB, Duct Tape and condoms.

I stopped by a wm this morning for a cheap pair of

Not very funny, but true!

i'm sure that would get the swat team there.

I remember my boss getting odd looks for buying 20 rolls of aluminum foil and a big bottle of vodka.

LOL Funny that you mention that 2 weeks ago I went to my Local Wally World, and at

my Super WM you have to pay for ammo in Sporting Goods. I was there to renew my

hunting License and while I was there I picked up 100 rds, .40, duct tape and paint

thinner, the guy looked at me and was like what are you going to do to this deer?

It was funny moment Odd combo. Hunting license, .40 cal, duct tape and paint thinner!

When I was still doing LARP fighting, pre-SCA (nerd alert, full disclosure), we had a weekend event planned, followed by a trip to the range. So, the gang ran to Wallyworld for materials to repair some boffer weapons.

My Friday night 11pm purchase included the following, no shit:

1 box 12g shotgun shells
1 box of .45ACP
1 blue tarp
1 roll duct tape
1 pack red girl's tights, size 6 (for a cheap red weapon cover)
1 length of funnoodle

The checkout lady gave me a very, very odd look.

Just before this last Halloween, I purchased a glow-in-the-dark hockey mask, and a Federal .223 value pack at a WalMart gun counter.

Arfcom Buddy I was with (voldaddy) said, "Throw in a shovel, and a 50 lb. bag of lime, too."

Cute clerk didn't bat an eye. I almost fell on the floor.

You need to buy Ammo and Tampax and Maxi-Pads.

If anyone asks, the Ammo is to shoot back, and the Tampax and Maxis are to stop the bleeding when you get hit yourself.......

On second thought, better ask the lady behind you...."Will the Tampax plug a .45 hole if someone shoots me with that instead of a pussy 9mm?"...they would probably know....

One time a buddy of mine came in from out of town and we went to the grocery store for beer. We each grabbed a 12 pack. My wife was making roasted chicken for dinner so seeing as my buddy showed up I decided to grab one more. So here's the picture: We are both in ball caps and sunglasses, standing there dead silent with 2 12 packs and a whole chicken on the conveyer. The girl gave us the weirdest look and finally my buddy say's out loud "she probably thinks were gonna get drunk and fuck this chicken" and I call "first in" leaving him with sloppy seconds. She never said a word during the whole transaction. Just my stupid weird combo of items at a store story.

Mine would be the time I took the Mrs. with me to pick up a mouth guard (issue with grinding my teeth in my sleep) and picked up a couple of impulse items since they were cheap.

So at the checkout I had one mouth guard, two bottles of cheap wine, and batteries... the lady looked at my wife and then gave me the oddest look.

"What do you have planned?"

Pampers too..

In the 90's I flew to Costa Rica via El Salvador. They made an announcement before we went to El Salvador, that anyone de-planing in El Salvador with disposable diapers would probably be detained as guerilla helpers by the guys guarding at the airport, so, you should leave them on the plane. Apparently, they make great bandages.

When we left the plane to get on another there was a gauntlet/line to walk between soldiers with AKs. We were running late, and just made it in time. Otherwise, we would have had to take the bus over the mountain to the city. Most every bus was attacked by the rebels back then.

While not that "wierd" so to speak, I'm surprised they didn't call the game warden to follow me around all night.

i've always wanted to go into wal-mart and buy an eye-raising combination of items (shovel, ski mask, vaseline, duct tape, paint roller, etc...), return them the next day and say "guess i'm not gonna need these.  my cousin missed his flight," or "he/she/it got away."

i bought a box of 22 ammo (bulk 550 federal) last week, they asked for my name and if i was shooting it in a handgun or rifle.
i told them my name is printed on the money - Jackson and i will shoot in both. she says i need to know your name, again i said Jackson and it can be shot in both a handgun and rifle.
again (groundhog day) she asked, i told her Jackson a rifle. i got a dirty look as this was keyed in.

my local wally mt isnt restocking ammo. the quanity is dropping and they are not getting in new stock.
