I live right on Lake Erie. When people mention global warming to me I point in the direction of the lake and ask them 'what's over there?'. Yup. The lake. In the last Ice age it was a mile thick glacier. What happened to all the ice? Yup, it melted. What caused the ice to melt? Was it carbon emissions from cave man's cooking fire that caused it? They generally don't have an answer for me. Then I tell them it's cyclical and is going to happen no matter what we do. The fact that we started measuring on an upswing doesn't mean it's our fault or there's anything we can do about it.
