...they swore they didn't.

A company, who is not a site sponsor, but is a well-known supplier sent me 20 boxes of federal brown-box XM193. I only ordered 12, and I was only charged for twelve.

Hell, I even tried to be honest about it. I called them up and told the CS rep that I was accidentally sent 20 boxes instead of 12.

She says, "Well your order shows you only ordered 12"

I say, "I know, but I was sent 8 more boxes than I ordered"

She replies,"Well, that couldn't have happened as we check our shipments very carefully"

I said, "Ok, thanks for your help" then I hung up.

Who am I to argue?

The law says that you do not have to pay for something sent to you that you did not order.  This law was passed maybe 60 years ago after companies would just send stuff to an address and demand payment.  If they don't think that they made a mistake, then don't worry about it.

Early Christmas present from the CEO of the company.  I got a free taco from Tacobell the other day. They refused to take it back. I wasn't charged for it, nor did they want it back. I mean come on!  /sarc

Put those extra FREE rounds down range with a smile on your face.

I am a long-time customer, but two years ago they switched prices of SA battle-packs on me after I ordered. It wasn't so bad, but this is karma giving it back to me.

Karma works both ways.

Did you not kick a dog or something this week?

This is incorrect.  For reference see Hill v. Gateway 2000, Inc. and related cases.  Companies can legally send you items and enclose what's known as an "Options contract" (see Restatement, Second of Contracts 45 parts 1 and 2) which essentially sets caveats for performance on the part of the recipient.

I would never argue with.

I think you should send it back.  It's stealing.

(that was a troll.  I'd put it in my Obama stash)

I ordered 1 R2 290 lumen LED lamp assembly from a little known company.

they shipped two.

I immediately emailed the contact person and he told me to keep it for being honest.

I realize it's not on the order of magnitude of 8 boxes of ammo, but it was a neat experience.

OP did what he could to notify them of the mistake.  I say "good score".

They don't want it back; too much liability from possible tampering.
Free ammo.

I'm not complaining. I just wanted to tell everyone about this odd situation. I consider myself a pretty honest man, so it struck me as odd that I'd have argue against something that was in my favor. So i didn't..... but I just want to say that I at least gave it the slightest shot to make it right.

Palmetto State Armory sent me an extra 200 round case of Q3130 a couple of weeks ago.  I called Joe to let him know.  He told me they got a kick out of it.  He said I could've had a free box.  But it wouldn't of been right.  I told him to charge the CC.

Slippery slope, next time it might be a power washer.
