Email received from Mike Duncan, 11/18/08

Dear _____,

As we as a Party regroup after our near miss in the presidential election, we must reflect on what our Party has done well and what we can improve moving forward. It is for that reason we have created a new Web site for you to share your thoughts on the direction of the Republican Party. Please take a moment to visit www.RepublicanForAReason.com and create an account to begin the dialogue.

The Republican Party has always been the party of reason and hope, and I strongly believe we will continue in this tradition as we work to the future.

I thank everyone who volunteered their time, money, and energy to elect John McCain and Sarah Palin. It was a ground-breaking year for the Party on a number of issues and those milestones would not have been met without your tireless efforts.

Moving forward, you have the opportunity to reflect on the reasons why you are a Republican on this site.

I look forward to your input and your ideas.

Best wishes,

Robert M. "Mike" Duncan
Chairman, Republican National Committee

They/We don't get it.
The RNC is not a conservative party anymore.

Until things change, I will continue to NOT donate to the RNC, and use every opportunity (when they call or write) to tell them why.

My political contributions will go to *individual*, conservative candidates, and the NRA-ILA.

RNC is not learning their lesson very well.

They don't realize how much of their turnout was people voting against Obama.

Had Hillary been the Dem candidate, it would have been a complete blowout.

guys, you need to be HAMMERING the RNC.  They are obviously without a rudder.

Big +1! Making excuses and whining about the past makes us look absolutely foolish, while driving away potential voters. I have said it before, people want to see someone who can act like a grown up, rather than a petulant child, as a leader.

Guess the RNC is continuing on their journey to the status of "third" party?

Share my thoughts with the RNC???

Is everyone nearly missing that a near miss is actually a hit?

If McCain nearly missed being elected President, he would be President elect McCain...

I have thought this over in the past, and determined that "miss" is the verb, and "near" is the adjective describing the verb (miss.) In this case it would mean the action was a miss, but it was close (or near.)

It is a odd sounding phrase, but it works. Unlike "extremely moderate."

365 electoral votes against 162 is hardly close.  Everything that could go wrong for McCain did go wrong, but he didn't prepare against Mr. Murphy.

Clinton got 370 in 1992

Reagan got 525 in 1984, with 59% of the popular vote.  That's been the biggest winning margin in popular vote in my lifetime.

Bush got 426 in 1988, with 54% of the popular vote.

Clinton got 370 with 42 percent of the vote.

I agree this was pretty close.  Obama got a bunch of electoral votes because he won some states with a close margin.  Next election there won't be an army of drooling black idiots on the warpath for him, and there will be more conservative turnout.

Obama outspent McCain 10-to-1.  Many seem unable to wrap their brains around this fact.  The Dems dropped all public financing laws and good government ideals in one fell swoop.  This is ultimately helpful to us because we can out-raise them in we try.

In the meantime I hope the country gets exactly what they voted for.  Good and hard.

because there are few real conservative voters anymore.

RINO's and moderates are elected because RINO's and moderates are voting.
There is a lot of them who post here.
Just imagine how many are out there in the real world.

That election was a "near miss" like that dinghy "Titanic" rubbed some paint on an ice cube.

Instead of bitching like a bunch of skirts, why don't you follow the link and join the discussion?  This is an excellent opportunity to reform the RNC and to make sure gun owners voice's are heard.  If you can't discuss the issues rationally ignore this request.

+1

If McCain had the political temperment to drive up Obama's negatives, he would have won.

His "We're both good men, but I have better ideas" campaign (which was the recommended course of action by the phoney-cons here) was a total loser.

The guy lives in a fantasy land. It was a blow-out and no where near being close.

Since the Republican party has become just another communist party, we are now left with a one party system.
