Watched it before (back when it went epic), but it was with the wife and her cousin and they, being women, don't know when the heck to shut up... so it is kindof like watching it for the first time.

That movie was awesome except for when he ran out of ammo and his AR went click-click-click like... I don't know what gun would even do that... a minigun maybe?

After you're done, watch the alternate ending. WAY better than that POS ending on the cut for theaters.

I liked the alternate ending WAAY better.  left the possibility to develop the story out and come back and kick some zombie ass later on.

movie ending,  not so much.

Plot from Omega man stolen from "Last man on earth" starring Vincent Price.

The only one of the three that is actually based on the book I am Legend.
I just dont think Hollywood has the balls anymore to have the hero die at the end.
Plus the stupid zombies in the new one are really lame. Wheres the rotting? where are the worms? Phooey!

Actually that was the original ending, but screeners didn't like it so they shot the one that ended up in the theatrical release.  And I agree, the original ("alternate" on the dvd) is much better.  They should've said "screw the screeners".

I love both "Last Man On Earth" (Vincent Price) and "Omega Man" (Charlton Heston).  Both are based on the book "I Am Legend" (written by Richard Matheson).

Sadly I read the book (awesome, BTW) before I watched "I Am Legend" (Will Smith).  What a fucking letdown the movie was.  It's difficult to fully express my disdain for the movie, and I actually like Will Smith in most of the roles he's played.

I also read the book before seeing the movie.  Both are good, but the themes and tones are so different that they are best considered as separate works, IMO.

Well at least the alt ending FINALLY EXPLAINS how the Escape got onto the island.  Watching the original theater cut now shows how the suits hacked the film not giving a shit of the plot hole of her driving onto and off of the island.

Still doesn't explain why the GW was left intact, but I digress...

I did not care for this movie either, if you want a real kicker read the book.  That had an ending.

Except that would only work if he kept pulling the trigger repeatedly. He was just holding it down and it clicked like an empty airsoft gun.

And the only double-action EBR I know of is the Spectre M4 SMG.

The book was so ridiculously better. The storyline was so much more involved, and the movie title actually had a POINT

"I Am Legend" makes absolutely no sense for the title of this movie. It's so obviously contrived in the movie. It has so much more meaning in the book.

He's also a much better survivalist. He's also white, and blond.

The only thing the movie had in common with the book is the name.
The theater ending was the best. At least his "legend" is continued by the other survivors.
The alternate ending was lame.

My one and only complaint about that movie was the totally retarded CGI zombie things with the huge mouths. Stupid looking. Other than that, an excellent film.

Big +1.

If they made them look like the infected from 28 days/weeks. The movie would have had a good element of fear to it. CGI crap was just boring.

Even the resident evil films used real "zombie" dogs.
