Dammit...I don't know how this bastard got out of his cage, but he did.

Tore the house apart for the past 5 hours, and I have yet to see a trace of him....this sucks.

Any of you snake owners ever experience this? What is the best way to get them out of hiding?

Finding a snake is nothing like finding any other animal, since they don't make a sound when they are out and about.

There are a few methods.. warm places, tight places too. I found a ball that went into the cushions of the couch and just curled up and stayed there. At the time my sister left him on the couch and I started looking in that area when i realized he was missing.

but a good one is on hardwood floor at night, spread some flour or talc and you can see if they slithered across the floor that night.

+1 on any relatively warm places or bathroom/source of water.

I once had a 2 foot iguana get loose and looked everywhere with no luck. Two days later I found it basking on the window sill.

You have an advantage- your brain is bigger. Be patient. My wife had a Rosy Boa that was a regular escape artist- we lost him once for about 9 months, and another time for about 6 months. Each time, he got busted in broad daylight, trying to make a run for it.

put shallow dishes of water in the corner of your rooms so your snake doesnt die of dehydration. The flour thing is also a good idea.

he will be some place warm....mine got out many times and i found him by the dryer or fridge motor or heater or in the heater vents ...looks for warm spots and you will find him

Mine escaped one and I found him in the subwoofer of my suround sound system. Talk about pissed...I had to dismantle that fucking speaker.

When I was a kid we had a pet newt. (no, I don't know why).

He got out of his cage, and we found him about 6 months later under the sofa all dried up.

tie a string to a live mouse, tie the other end to something heavy, leave the mouse where the snake can find it overnight.

No way to draw him out.. Only find him.. I found one in a heating duct.. i found another in the couch as in up under it in the springs... Look inside of everything.. If the head will fit it will fit.

A ball python can go months without eating, especially in winter. Mine escaped a few times, when we had gerbils it was easy to find him, he'd be curled up on top of the gerbil cage :-) Woke up one night hearing something rustling at the foot of the bed, reached down and grabbed him :-) I think he did make it into the bed once, my wife and I got a laugh out of it. Snakes will find the darndest places to hide - check boxes, under appliances, under cabinets, closets, in boots, etc... When mine was a baby, I found him hiding in an empty toothpaste box.

I 7+ foot rat snake has escaped 2 times.

First time I found him behind my dresser. In the same day.

Second time took me a week. He had curled up in a blanket in the top of my closet. I pulled everything out of my apartment and it took me 3 times to find him.

Look up under your chairs and sofas. A few times we found ours hidden inside my recliner......a real bitch to get out BTW.

Once my upstairs neighbor called me at work, screaming that my 6ft corn snake was in her cupboards
