All the more reason why U.S. troops should never be placed into Africa.

That place is truly barbaric. We had a brief stop in Monrovia on a mission last spring along with some time in Cameroon, Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, Djibouti and Algeria. You have no idea the level of barbarism in these people. I am a well traveled guy and have been all over the globe and back again. I am also pretty tolerant of other cultures and try to learn as much I can and enjoy the experience except for Africa. I would have no problem if the world community decided to seal the borders and exterminate every human on the continent in the most efficient and expedient fashion possible and then expose the whole area to insecticides, defoiliants, and copious amounts of radiation, and anything else that will kill off all the disease and pestulance that resides there.. Really.. When we landed in Nigeria, a green crew member asked why there was no customs inspectors to greet us. I told him that there was nothing new that we could bring to the place. |

You guys are all wrong, these people are just misunderstood. You see down deep we are all the same, not good, not evil, we are all just people. You guys just need to learn how to embrace and understand your Liberian brothers way of life.

yeah... great stuff.
Shithole. Wonder how long it would take our inner cities to devolve into that type of chaos if shit went downhill. |

I am never watching that video again while eating chicken parmesan.
I feel sick to my stomach. |

When I lived in J-Vegas, NC, one of my neighbors was from Liberia (he was a Sgt with MSOAG). I eventually ended up meeting his friends and relatives. Fun, festive people to party with.
One of his friends he grew up with was an Army medic. She was leaving for OCS the next month. She greatly admired my EA M14 when we were drinking beer one night. Any woman who likes the M14 is wife material in my book. She was a hoot. They were all well educated and articulate. All of them had four year degrees. I never did feel like they wanted to eat me when they came over, or when I visited with them at their place.... They're not all bad. |

We need to ship several cases of some fine chianti to Liberia.

That is savage behavior if I've ever seen it. Truth be told there were other warring type tribes that did the same sort of thing.... it was just that they did it fifteen thousand years ago... i believe there may still be some of this going on in New Guniea... but for some reason i think it was stopped by more civilized individuals... they used spears and machetes to go to war with one another.. not AK47s, so I would suspect these in the video do realize that they are supposed to be part of the 21st century anyway. |

Social Relativism at its finest-who are we to judge? They are freedom fighters like George Washington et al. The real savages are those crazy conservatives trying to impose their values on others! LOL

LOL In all seriousness, there is some truth to that. The main reason I wouldn't eat human flesh is because of disease. Cooking won't kill prion diseases though it does kill most everything else. Prions exist in many tissues outside the brain including lymphatic tissue. I have eaten pussy, but I never swallowed. |

Uhhhh....motivational posters of the Liberians actually gutting a dude is probably a tad over the line. ~ JW777

Eating it raw over there would be a good way to catch HIV, but that is probably the least of their worries.

From Wiki...
Historically, Liberia has enjoyed the support and unofficial cooperation of the United States government. Liberia’s government, modeled after that of the United States, was democratic in structure, if not always in substance. After 1877 the True Whig Party monopolized political power in the country, and competition for office was usually contained within the party, whose nomination virtually ensured election. Two problems confronting successive administrations were pressure from neighboring colonial powers, Britain and France, and the threat of financial insolvency, both of which challenged the country’s sovereignty.
HMMMMMM... In October 1985, Liberia held the first post-coup elections, ostensibly to legitimize Doe's regime. Virtually all international observers agreed that the Liberia Action Party (LAP) led by Jackson Doe (no relation) had won the election by a clear margin. After a week of counting the votes, however, Samuel Doe fired the count officials and replaced them with his own Special Election Committee (SECOM), which announced that Samuel Doe's ruling National Democratic Party of Liberia had won with 50.9% of the vote. In response, on November 12 a counter-coup was launched by Thomas Quiwonkpa, whose soldiers briefly occupied the Executive Mansion and the national radio station, with widespread support throughout the country. Three days later, Quiwonkpa's coup was overthrown. Following this failed coup, government repression intensified, as Doe's troops killed more than 2000 civilians and imprisoned more than 100 opposing politicians, including Jackson Doe, Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf and BBC journalist Isaac Bantu.
