[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Which 5.45x39 AK Should I Buy...?

I've got a few AR-15s and I'd like to get one Kalashnikov rifle to have one, especially since they seem to be number on on the hit parade for gun banners.

After reading things in the AK forum I've decided 5.45x39 is the way to go, especially with ammo prices.

Locally I have 3 good candidates available to me.

A Polish Tantal side folder on a Nodak receiver (CAI version) $395.00

A Bulgarian A frame side folder on a Nodak receiver $475.00

A Romanian SAR 2 (not a WASR) fixed stock $375.00

I'm thinking the SAR 2 would be the most practical but I love the look of that Bulgarian.

I have a Tantal I assembled from a kit. They make nice rifles.

Definitely the Bulgy. That's a great price for a nodak sidefolder.

+1 I built a Bulgarian kit on a Armory USA receiver a couple years ago, it is sweet:

If you get the SAR2, you're just going to spend your money trying to bring it up to the Bulgarian's specs.

Get the Bulgy.

Sounds like a great deal on a Bulgy. $475 is a super price on a quality build. They were going for about $800 new not too long ago.

I just bought a fixed stock Bulgy for more than this week. to many Tantals with crap barrels for me to gamble.

SAR2. Cheap, accurate and badass! Here is my obligatory picture. I like sidefolders, but only on SBR Krinks.
