Hi all.

Being in New Zealand and not being an American, we are pretty removed from the US politics here.

Unfortunatly, we are affected by who ever comes to offce in the USA so I've been following what I can where I can.

I read the below on another forum and was wondering if it was true.

"With only 20 days left to vote and the lead Obama has in the polls should his lead hold here's what we in for in an Obama Administration....

Prosecute people who use guns for self-defense in the home – YES
Ban the sale of almost all hunting ammo – YES
Increase taxes on firearms and ammunition by 500% - YES

What Obama Won't Tell You
The following is from the NRA.... 10/16/2008
Barack Obama's still claiming to be a Second Amendment supporter, and gun owners around the country are continuing to tell their friends, neighbors, co-workers and even strangers the truth about Obama's anti-gun agenda.
Second Amendment scholar David Hardy is shedding light on Obama's time with the Joyce Foundation, the anti-gun organization that funneled tens of millions of dollars to gun control groups while Obama served on its board of directors.
It turns out Obama didn't have a problem with the Joyce Foundation buying issues of law reviews and turning them into gun-control propaganda pieces. Yet Obama, who taught a constitutional law seminar at the University of Chicago, keeps saying he'd never do anything to hurt the Right to Keep and Bear Arms. It's too late for rhetoric like that. He already has hurt the Second Amendment, and he'd do a lot more if given the chance. "

If the above is true, is he allowed to do this or would there nned to be a process in the gov. that he'd need to go through and would there be pubplic voting alloed on the isue.

This sucks, cause everytime there is a ban or restriction in the USA, we feel it here too, especially when it comes to guns

In the past Obama voted to ban all guns all the time.

His web page for his presidential candidacy now says he is fully in favor of gun rights.

Amazing what a few weeks will do to a lifelong stance.

He wants to even ban most hunting ammo?  What's he going to allow, 22 caliber?  Seriously , third party voters need to take note of this.

Many do believe it will happen based on his past votes and statements
Also, with the wacko Speaker of the House and Majority leader it WILL certainly happen.

I believe it is true because my current issue of American Rifleman tells me so.
NRA hates O.  Should be reason enough for anyone on this board.

To answer your question, the Congress must go through the process of passing legislation that accomplishes these bans or increases in taxes.

The only public voting that will matter at that time is who we elect to represent us in Congress. Congress will vote for or against it, not us.

In short, he can't do it all by himself.

Oh, everyone hates the USA, I'm looked at side ways and called a red neck if I come up in defence of the US here.

Everyone in NZ can't wait for Barak"Allah" Obama to get elected.

We are a few weeks away from our own general ellection and even the lesser of the two evils is calling himself the NZ Obama (And I have to vote for the prick just to get the more communist of the parties out of power)

So, yes, the world hates the USA, I still think a lot of the hate is just causeit is fasionable.

If I were to offer a free all expenses paid holiday to half these morons who protest against the USA in this country, the'd be happier then a hungry baby in a topless bar.
