How come if Obama and McCain are within a couple of points of each other, why do they show Obama having almost twice as many electoral votes? Help me out because it doesn't add up to me.

Because he has states like New York and California that have like a billion electoral college votes

You can win each state by one vote and get all the electoral votes.

So, an accurate poll would be 50-50, but there would be an electoral landslide.

So no matter how slim, Obama has the perceived lead in a lot of states.

I wondered if that was the case, and if that is the case then the electoral maps are pretty misleading.
