It seems like Islam, Inc. want the world to believe that their religion is one of peace, brotherhood, and mercy.  We're not supposed to get pi**ed at Islam for the WTC attack.

We're told that true Islam is not like that.

But if the majority of Muslims truly believe that the terrorists went against the "true beliefs" of Islam and were a bunch of nut-case extremists, shouldn't we see a huge outcry of Muslims condemning the Taliban, reviling Osama, and even turning in the a**holes that remain in our country?

So far, about all I've seen on TV is the sensational stuff like where they find a bunch of Paki kids who will go on screen and worhship the martyrs and yak about how they wannabe a suicide bomber when they grow up.

Or the Islamic 'scholar' who rationalizes the mayhem, like some social worker explaining about how the young gang-banger that perped a drive-by is really just a misunderstood victim of society.

Sure the media twists these things and probably stages a lot of these things, but even making allowances for that, I'm at the point where I'm starting to think what we need to do is show all these Islamic countries, splinter groups and apologists  what a pi**ed off people can do.

Should we start by paying Arafat a visit?  From above?

And when we pull out of Pakistan, why not neuter them?

This is like saying that since all Catholics haven't come out in the media and condemned each and every bombing done by the IRA, that Vatican City sould be bombed.

No, it's nothing like that.  Where in Catholic doctrine does it say that if you kill someone who doesn't believe what you believe, you'll go to heaven?

You see Catholic priests basically giving the thumbs-up to the bombers and shooters of abortion clinics sometimes.  Saying things like "Oh yeah, it's definitely bad to shoot someone.  But it's worse to kill an innocent unborn child like those doctors were doing."

Similarly you hear Islamic spokesmen say "Oh yeah, the terrorist attack was definitely bad.  But the US has been the world's biggest terrorist for over 50 years and you should look at why this happened."

There are a lot of wacky things about Catholicism (like the Pope being infallible, for instance) but last time I checked, their beliefs didn't fuel an international cartel of murder and mayhem.

But I would imagine that the Pope has indeed condemned every IRA bombing event.

The thrust of the difference is that no one could actually believe that Christianity would call upon its adherants to do what Islamic fundamentalist terrorists are doing every day.

The odd-abortion clinic doctor or two that are shot annually by Christian fundamentalists are greatly lamented by the mainstream denominations and the miscreant is roundly vilified as someone out of touch with what Christ would want them to do!

Is there any confusion about what Mohammad the Prophet of Allah would want them to do? You bet! The Mullahs can't even get close to agreeing on that one!

Well, which century are you worried about? You don't fear a future Inquisition here do you?

The Pope is not "infallible" in the sense you say.  The "infallibility" doctrine states that the Pope is to be considered infallible when he makes an official, ex cathedra statement about Catholic doctrine.

I, for one, don't see the similarity between Catholicism and Islam.

Yes, but the problem sometimes comes down that they think Catholic and Christianity are interchangeable terms. When the Pope speaks upon matters of faith and church doctrine, he is held to be infallible, insofar as the Roman Catholic Church is concerned.

Well there are Christians who do not feel bound in any way by his statements on matters of faith - and if he wishes to run his church the way he sees fit, that is no one else's concern, in any event.

Of course, there are Catholics here that do not feel bound by either pronouncements on faith or doctrine.

I think the Pope has very clearly stated that killing is wrong, and very often says that he wants peace. The Pope has also said that religion shouldn't be used as a reason for war or murder. The Catholic Church also apologized for being anti-Semetic(sp?) during WWII.

The best I've heard from followers od Islam, in public, is that the attack was wrong, but.......(insert litany of complaints here).....  I also think it is interesting that when they showed video of the areas in the Middle East, immediatley after the 9-11 attack, you would see pictures of obl in store windows, truck windows, and as murals. But now when the chips are down, we hear that very few people care for obl. Well the ones that liked him most have been mostly printing shop owner and painters.

At the risk of being accused of racism again, I would highly recommend viewing the following thread:

The problem with Islam is that it's not codified. Anybody can say anything they want, and if enough people believe it, then it sticks.

Personally, I get the feeling that Muslims here in the US are not too quick to condemn the attacks of 9/11 out of fear of what their fellow Muslims will think of them. From what I've seen on TV, when local Muslims do condemn the attacks, they immediately follow their condemnation with a rationalization of why it happened.

Now, if the IRA were to stage an attack on Protestants here in the US, how many American Catholics would be seen rationalizing the attack? I suspect very few. In fact, I think most American Catholics would hold the position that the SOB's should die for their misdeeds.

Why do we expect less from American Muslims? After all, if you're living in this nation, should not your primary loyalty be with America?

Shouldn't you be an American first and a Muslim second? Or is it not PC to suggest such a thing?

raf, I would disagree. I know many devout Catholics and Protestants who consider themselves American first and foremost, Catholic or Protestant second. That doesn't mean that their spirituality is second to their nationality, simply that the way they exercise it is.

what religion was Hitler mixed with? Himmler of the SS was a practitioner of the Occult, but what religion was that? did the National Socialist German Workers Party officially support a specific faith?

Protestant and Catholic members of the White Rose society were executed for treason. crime: helping Jews to escape and promote anti-Nazi party literature.
