When she was grilling Ashcroft she said her and about 5 other Senators are going to introduce a new law calling for a "Universal" background check because the Terrorists manuals describe how to purchase firearms.

While she didn't expand on it, I'm almost certain it will be her proposal to require a NICs check for all firearm purchases, including private sales. Most likely it will include part of a current bill that she has already submitted which requires all gun sales to take place with a dealer, meaning no more private sales.

I'll give her a Universal background check, where did I put my wiffle bat?

We need to write our senators and get them to understand that we put them there and we can take them out (non-violent, of course).

For a while there I though she and her other colleagues were going to propose a national ban on all AK clones.

The only way those fuckwits in congress will change their political views is when they are affected by the laws they pass.

Here's a thought? Given the large effectt that elected officials can have on us, we need to have a Universal Background Check of them, what if a commie or Taliban mole was elected?
Stop snickering about Klinton, there is no conclusive evidence that he was a commie plant or narco trafficer.
What if a Senator or ccongressman was elected or reelected that was involved in a murder, drunken driving, kidnapping, or just of poor moral character?

I don't see a problem as these are extreme times that call for extreme measures and it would only apply to non-citizens. I am sure there will be an acceptible compromise bill that only will apply these background checks at gun shows.

[soapbox]
Senator Feinstein is an enemy of our great Republic, a true Socialist, one who seeks to impose her own vision of a true world order on freedom loving Americans. The good citizens of the great State of California must end her 1,000 year reign of terror.

Kennedy and Sen. Charles Schumer, D- N.Y., took Ashcroft to task for not using information on possible terrorists from the federal government’s “instant check” system which includes data on those who attempt to buy guns.
Ashcroft replied that the law which established the background check system does not allow investigators to use data from that system to track down anyone who tries to buy a gun.
But background check data on those would-be purchasers who are prevented from buying a gun because they aren’t legally qualified to own one is being used as part of the anti-terrorism investigation, Ashcroft said.
When Kennedy asked why Ashcroft didn’t seek to change the law to allow use of data on those who did buy guns, Ashcroft said simply that “I would happy to consider any legislation that you would propose.”
