My son-in-law Josh was one of the crew members.
Prayers please.................... he leaves a wife and 4 month old son behind. Thank You UPDATE: It's been a rough 36 hours. Several members of our family have traveled to Hawaii to be with Danielle and help her in making the proper arrangements for Josh. God Bless all of you for your kind words and prayers. It means a great deal to us. |

The coasties really are the unsung heros.
Especially the chopper pilots/crews. Hell I can't get a medavac chopper to fly if there is a cloud in the sky. Those guys are flying into hurricanes and plucking people out of the water. Huge brass ones. |
|
True dat brother... it's not the pilots on the medivacs rather the culture that stinks up health care A few counties to the north of us has a LE rotary wing dept that pretty much is a retirement for USMC/USA rotary pilots, we have had to ask them for help when we had major trauma and the med guys were grounded...they will fly in anything through anything anytime The difference is amazing, when they are not in medical role or no casevac's on board you should see the bank angles... these guys still dodge small arms and sams in civvy land and come in hot and leave hotter Not your typical civvy chopper flight profile for sure |

I don't necessarily blame the pilots. I know they don't have the equipment the coasties have either. It's just frustrating when you have people that are going to die without definitive care NOW and you can't get a whirly bird. I was just talking to my co worker last night. (dispatching) We decided our SO needed a UAV. Set up the console in dispatch and lets roll! I would love a predator...just hope they give me a couple of the hellfires |

Please except My families condolences at this very difficult time. As a former Coastie I know that the entire Coast Guard feels your loss.

Prayers sent.
It's always tough when we lose a brother or sister, but the ARFcom and Coast Guard families are here for you |

Prayers rendered from this family.
Am deeply sorry for your loss, as your loss, is a loss shared by all who rely on the Coasties for times gone bad on the water. That crew being Lost, diminishes us all. Hundreds are alive right now beacuse of their selfless efforts. Here, there in Hawaii, and on or near any body of water. I wish I could say or do something that would provide some comfort, but know better. All I can do is thank you for raising a proud Son who protected the people I love. Semper Fi! S-28 |

I don't have the words.....
I'll say a special prayer for your daughter and your grandson tonight. |

It truely is a sad day when another Coast Guardsman looses his life in the line of service. I am truely sorry for your loss.

My jaw just hit the floor. I clicked this thread thinking it would be an article about a crash, then read that it is the poster's own son. |
