[ARCHIVED THREAD] - What are your favorite targets?

Myself, I like shooting at full cans of cheap soda, stuffed animals, and old fruits and veggies. What about you? I'm taking a few friends out shooting this weekend, and I want to get a few ideas. Also, where is a good place to get full-size, preferrably black-and-white, pictures of Osama Bin Laden's ugly mug? I think that would be a very popular one to shoot at.

Whitetail deer, pronghorn antelope, impala, bushbuck, baboons, squirrels, crows, coyotes, rabbits, bobcats.

The packs of exploding targets are always fun. Sometimes tough to hit because you have to hit right on the center to have them explode. There is definitely something very satisfying when they go off.

bowling pins
Shoot-n-see targets
Plastic soda and milk jugs full of water (tape the tops down - also you can place a small 1" piece of wood in front of the jug - this usually produces a larger explosion of the jug)

Volkswagens, preferably old Vanagons. Even a .222 will rip through the whole vehicle.

for a simple cheap visually impacting and tough to hit target I reach for the big bag of charcoal briquettes.

I use dry wall(some of you call it sheet rock) most of the time when i shoot. I work in the construction trade so i have a lot of opportunities to bring home leftover pieces.
you always know when you hit it because a little cloud of white dust will come off the target.

black walnuts at the range, but if you realy want to have fun try sniping at snapping turtles in the creeks and private lakes, good practice and the lake owners want them gone

What a shameful waste--they are fine eating and have to be about 30 y/o to be big enough to eat. I hate to kill something that old that does absolutely no harm and, as scavengers, clean up dead stuff from the ponds/rivers. They will not attack humans and mostly scavenge. If you learn a little bit about them, they are pretty neat critters, albeit homely as hell. [:)]

I use bowling pins, also I tie soda cans and plastic bottles to sting and hang them from target frames. A little bit of dirt in the cans and bottles make a great reactive target. Been thinking about water ballons lately but haven't tried any yet.

Old computer monitors make a very interesting paperweight with a single hole in the center of the screen. If shot straight on, the coil on the back of the tube will stop a 44 Mag. so the rear of the enclosure stays intact. If possible, switch it with a similar type on co-worker's desk.

Clay pigeons!! The bright orange targets are easy to see, and when they break you know you done did good! I picked up 135 for $6 at Bass Pro Shop. Can't beat that price!

Actually, beekeeper, they eat waterfowl as well. I have seen them grab ducks by the feet and drown them. Even so, I like them as well. I even go out of my way on roads to save them from being run over.
