this was printed in the Idaho Statesman today...MAN PROUD OF DEER FINDS HE SHOT PROTECTED ELK..Randolph Scott Stidman was so proud of shooting an enormous deer drove it aroud town in the back of his pickup to show it offto friends.   they broke the bad news:H had actually bagged one of the 1300 protected elk that wildlife officials have been trying to restore to the states APPALACHIAN mountains. Now Stidham,38,faces more than $8000 in fines and up to a year in jail. "Anyone who mistakenly shoots an elk is an idiot",said Roy Grimes, deputy state fish and wildlife commissioner. "If a person cannot tell the difference between an elk and a deer, they should get rid of their firearms"   this was from JACKSON KY.[SEX]     I ONCE SHOT A GROUND SQUIREL AND TRY TO PASS IT OFF AS A BEAR BUT NOBODY FELL FOR IT. GOOD THING IT WASN'T BEAR SEASON.[WHACKO]

I understand that the elk are reproducing nicely, and that those that wander over into VA are likely to be legally hunted.

Thanks, KY!
