Rules: B&W only. No color, no greyscale, no shading.  No "hairline" or "superfine" details.  My preference is classy and commemorative but do what you like.  I'll be picking the "winner". but any submitted can be used by anyone to engrave a lower.

Weasel Talk: This is a contest to design artwork to be laser engraved on the right side of a lower.  Feel free to post up ideas, but to win the entrant must provide a high res. image in .cdr or .pdf.  All entrys are the property of the artist.  By submiting a drawing the owner of the image agrees to permit the use of image for the purpose above without restriction.

Prizes: The winner will have his choice of 3 prizes:  Free laser engraving on the lower of his choice OR a bronze membership for the person of his choice OR the item of his choice from Dave's Big Box O' AR Parts.

Let's see your best effort!

David

On a PBS history show, called "History Detectives" they showed a bunch of artwork from 6 dollar bills of the American Revolutionary period.  The artwork, some by Ben Franklin, was symbolic of America's fight against tyranny.

Perhaps something in that vein could be placed onto the receiver.

Just to clarify, are you looking for a concept that best reflects the Heller decision?

If someone can change this to line-art, it might be apropos:

The heron symbolizes America fighting against a stronger fascist force.  It is going for the jugular of the oppressor.

The last is a wreath of laurel on a marble monument, or altar. The motto, SI RECTE FACIES; If you act rightly. This seems intended as an encouragement to a brave and steady conduct in defence of our liberties, as it promises to crown with honour, by the laurel wreath, those who persevere to the end in well-doing; and with a long duration of that honour, expressed by the monument of marble.

THIS SHOULD BE IT!

By BEN FUCKING FRANKLIN

On another bill is impressed, a wild boar of the forest rushing on the spear of the hunter; with this motto, AUT MORS, AUT VITA DECORA, which may be translated -- Death or liberty. The wild boar is an animal of great strength and courage, armed with long and sharp tusks, which he well knows how to use in his defence. He is inoffensive while suffered to enjoy his freedom, but when roused and wounded by the hunter, often turns and makes him pay dearly for his injustice and temerity.

Lady Justice, with blindfold and scales, but holding a pistol instead of a sword.  (Finger off the trigger!)

Or, an old-time "Minuteman," typical farmer-at-Concord (like in the Massachusetts state seal) but holding an AR15 instead of a flintlock.

I also like "...Shall Not Be Infringed"  Maybe a quote from the decision itself?

I guess I could add DC vs Heller and the date the decision was released to the bottom.

Sort of like this:

Might be too much stuff though.

That's a lot to squeeze onto the side of a lower.  Thats the exact idea, just needs to be conveyed more concisely.
