I'm thinking about purchasing one of these for my brother...yeah, that's the ticket, for my brother...but I need to know if it will hold a 1911 Gov't model.  Also, if you have one of these, are you happy with it, do you wish you had gone with the JUMBO pack?

I have the Maxpedition Thermite Versipack but find it a tad small, just have to travel light when using it and it does conceal a CZ-82 nicely.

I THINK that a fullsize 1911 will only fit in the Jumbo

No, G30 is about the size limit.

I've got the Jumbo and the Colossus, both are great, both carry whatever crap I need; I use a grimlock and a loop of paracord on the Colossus to secure my Camelback bottle on one side, the Jumbo's got a pouch for it.

I carry mine on my motorcycle, a singlestack compact is about it, if you plan on getting it out today.A glock is just too thick , i am carrying a Sig P6 now.
But, i like my sling pack. When i park my bike and go in, my pistol does too.

LA polce gear runnuing them on closeout?

A fullsize can fit in it, but it's not an easy in/easy out thing.  You have to fold back the top flap and lift it over the pistol to zip it shut.  It wouldn't be as quick of a draw as a smaller gun.

But yes, you can fit a 1911 in it.

I can squeeze a Springfield 1911A1 full size double stack into my Fatboy.  IT's tight, and not a quick draw, but it will fit.  I can also put a CZ75, CZ97 in there as well.  Generally though, I carry a SP101 or Taurus PT145 in mine.

And it does make an excellent tailbag on a motorcycle!

In hindsight, I probably would have gone with a 'S' model, the left-handed one.  Also, I might have gotten the bigger Jumbo.  But, the Jumbo is quite a bit larger...You can cram a lot of stuff into the Fatboy...

I have a fatboy that just holds a G23.  Won't do a 1911 fullsize.

Very nice manbag, BTW.

+1.  I have an S-type Jumbo, and it fits larger pistols nicely.

Ewwww......why?

Why not buy a holster instead.

Some specific situations do not allow for holstered concealment.  Here are 3 off the top of my head:

-apparel (e.g. scrubs)
-IL's odd ban that allows cased/unloaded handguns, so some people get around it by having an empty gun & full mag in a fanny pack or other case.
-personal preference

I have a fatboy with a G19 in it.  The G17 will fit but only if I cram it in on an angle.

I wish I would have gotten the jumbo.

Good info, thanks all for taking the time to respond.  Looks like the Jumbo versipack for the full size 1911.  Too bad as already noted, L.A. Police Gear has the fatboy on closeout.  www.lapolicegear.com/mafavefrmiwa.html

The Jumbo's on closeout as well. Check Amazon, some of LAPG's prices are a few bucks more than I've seen over there.
