I was just watching the news and the weatherman was talking Greek. WTF is sleath?!?!?! WTF is this freezing point crap?!?!?! WTF is this cold weather?!?!?! I didn't think the thermometer went below 35degrees. When the hell did this come about?!?!?!
Hell I use to go to the beach in mid January. Its gets cold around January. Sure I can't go there without a shirt and have to put on a tank top or maybe wrap a towel around me. And sometimes it gets so cold in SoCal that I actually have to put on a sweater. In all seriousness. I need to buy some jackets. I have one leather jacket. One over coat with lining. The rest are spring season jackets. I don't even have gloves. I hope it warms up tomorrow. How long does this shit last? [:(] |

Pussy. This is where i have been working for the last 3 months.

Hey, put in an application with Schlumberger in Sugarland, TX their North America HQ.
You could be up here yourself, LT. Logging wells and racking up the dollars. 2 weeks in hell, 2 weeks to do whatever you want. |

You know last year I had a job offer in Salt Lake City, UT. Good money for a very prestigious investment banking firm that opened and ops office there. I have always regreted turning down that offer. However, everytime I see snow and remember what I saw of that place, I remember why I did turn the offer down. Hell TX is a culture of its own that I am just now starting to get accustomed to. UT has a culture, and religion of its own.

It actually froze here 2 days ago. |

I know where LT's coming from. I remember when I was 7 seeing snow for the first time (North Carolina) After going back to South Florida, I told everyone in Class about this white stuff. Some of the true Floridians didn't believe me and the New Englanders just laughed.
Damn, I wish we still had that Cabin in NC. |

LT,
The folks in Minneapolis called their seasons: Winter, and Bad Sledding Season. Those Dallas winters can be a bitch. I've been through about 20 of them. You learn to wear the bottoms to your thermals on the windy days...most of them.(g) I now find the San Diego winters much nicer...ratshit politicians and all. - Anarki |

You have no idea how amusing it is for me to hear Texans/Californians talk about coping with winter weather.

Raven,
You have no idea how amusing it is to watch Northerners talk about summer heat waves. I will watch death tolls from the heat in NYC and Chicago, and then I look at the weather, and the high is 85! That is springtime temperatures here. |

What are you guys talking about?.....Snow?....What snow?

i love having a storm and tehm closing the roads. cause then i can legally drive my atv on the road!! as sson as the police say don't go on the roads i get my riding and the bike and go out. with 4wd and knobby tires she'll cut through about 1 foot of hard pack and more if just drifts. it's -20C normally in the winter (if it's colder where you are then ok) so lt complianing about buying a light jacket is hilarious. go to www.geocities.com/ianatv to see some good snow shots. albeit without a lot of snow but some.

Well, went to work today. It was so cold I did not even bother to go to lunch. I just worked through it and raided the geedunk dispensers instead. That's junk food machine for you non Sailors and Jarheads

You people laugh at LT for not being used to the cold. I want to see all of you come down here to Dallas or Houston (preferrably). Come for the entire summer (which lasts about 10 months). I don't want to hear any complaining about how hot it is, or how humid it is, or how your shoes are sticking to the partially melted blacktop (it happens). I don't want to hear any complaints when the mosquitos suck all the blood out of your veins either. What? Can't take it? I thoguth so... [BD]

dude, the heat doesn't bother me. i've worked outside if +35C heat in direct sun, doing physical workwith coveralls and safety boots and covered in grease and dirt (literally).
those who've worked on transports trucks (not at a dealership) know how dirty you get. i love sweating right thorugh my coveralls. consider i'm wearing workpants under the CA's and a black ballcap. taking the treads off a dozer in the sun is fun and educational. not trying to one-up you, just saying. i'd love to come down and live in texas or alabama for the 10 month summer, instead of the 10 month winter up here (maritimes). that would be fun. I think our low today in Tampa, FL got to about 80 degrees. By next Monday, it will be a chilly 76 degrees. don't know if I can handle this. [;)]
Actually, around Feb or March, the temp gets into the mid 20's. I love riding in that weather... skies are clear, the air is sharp, and the idiot drivers are too busy warming their hands instead of driving. |

Quoted: dude, the heat doesn't bother me. i've worked outside if +35C heat View Quote Only 35C? A few years ago it was hitting close to 45C here...then factor in the extremely high humidity and dewpoint. The problem is that you can't cool off from sweating down here because the sweat doesn't evaporate. |

Yo, LT! You don't have to worry about the snow, you have to worry about the ice storms and freezing rain. Last winter we had 6 days of either snow or freezing rain......
Texas drivers are NUTTERS! If it snows people drive like slow, old folks, when the roads freeze with 3 inches of ice people (like me) drive like a bat out of hell! |
