LEXINGTON, Ohio (AP) -- Roger Penske came up with a surprising strategy Sunday that Ryan Briscoe turned into his second IndyCar Series victory, but the buzz was still on Saturday's confrontation between Danica Patrick and fellow female IRL driver Milka Duno.

After finishing a practice run and getting out of her car, Patrick quickly walked to where Duno, the only other woman racing here this weekend, was pitted and argued with the less experienced driver about getting in her way several times during the practice.

The altercation lasted only about a minute, but witnesses said it grew heated and that Duno flung a towel in Patrick's direction at one point as the two exchanged words. Patrick eventually walked away.

Patrick, who has previously confronted fellow drivers Briscoe and Dan Wheldon after racing incidents, brushed off the latest dustup, saying, "I just wanted to know if she saw me out there."

Duno was not immediately available for comment.

Things didn't get better for Patrick after the confrontation.

In the No. 20 spot in Sunday's starting grid, Patrick ran a consistent race to finish 12th. Because of a wet track at the start, Patrick had to pit early in the race and that led to her going green down the stretch.

"I had to conserve fuel the last stint of the race," she said, "but I was able to gain some positions and get some points."

A year ago, Patrick started second but was nearly wiped out in a first-lap accident along with Andretti Green teammates Marco Andretti and Dario Franchitti.

Why do guys pant over Danica Patrick? She's about as feminine as Venus and Serena Williams. She reminds me of the short Darth Vader in Space Balls. A little gnomish "tomboy" who has somehow fooled the media into thinking she's cute, which she isn't - not even remotely.

I'm sure they've been sick of it for awhile, but at first they didn't want to say anything in fear of bringing bad press to the league's media darling. Now that things are improving for the series they've probably become more vocal about her BS.

I met her at the Mid-Ohio races last summer... The company I worked for sponsors her team (millions) and we got a photo shoot, lunch, and meet and greet with her and Tony Kanan. Tony was all smiles and jokes and was a hoot to be around, she was pissed, very short with you, kind of 'get this pic taken and get me out of here' attitude, and she only stayed a whopping 10min for lunch. I was very put off by her. Tony is a funny bastard though, the kind of guy you would want to go out drinking with.

Looked to me like she flipped off one of the guys for his comment while ragging on Duno.

The What the Hell when Duno threw the towel at her a second time was hilarious. On the cat fight scale I give it about a two. A couple of fuck yous or a least a slap could have made it very outstanding though.

It is my understanding that during practice, the slower drivers are supposed to give the right of way to the faster drivers. If Duno didn't do that then she is in the wrong.

You can see the constant bitchiness is starting to wear in Danica's face in the SI pics.
Only a few more years and those frown lines will be engraved in.
