[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Anyone have a grill fueled by natural gas?

The house I just bought has a natural gas connection on the deck. I don't have a grill yet, so I wonder if this is the route to go.

Pros: never have to swap out propane tanks.

Cons: Taste?

Please list pros and cons from your experience.

Buddy of mine has it and loves it.

Maybe not grilling in a purist sense, but it still tastes good to me.

I have one and it cooks great, get a good thermometer on it and your set.

If you buy a grill set up for bottled gas you will need to either drill out the orifices or buy a kit. If you are handy drill the orifices. I can't remember which size drill I used last time but I found the info on the google. The kit which consists of some predrilled orifices and some other junk to keep you from feeling like you just got fucked was $50.

if you cook out all the time, and are too lazy for charcoal.

they are great.

Have to factor in getting gas piped to where ever though.

You can refill ALOT of tanks for what a plumber will charge you by the hour if he has to bring the pipe from the other side of the house.

Since you bought a house already piped for it though, I'd go for it.

My grill runs on bottled propane. Running out of propane is MUCH more problematic than running out of charcoal, so I keep two tanks around.

If I had it to do again, without a doubt, I'd get a natural gas grill.

There will be no taste residue from the use of propane or natural gas. If there is, something is seriously wrong.

We like ours alot. Had it added as an option on the new house. Very convenient.
