I just picked up some lovely salmon today. Basted it with extra virgin olive oil and added some a light dusting of Lowry's seasoning salt and some pepper. Baked to perfection and served with some red potatoes and steamed asparagus tips. Oh my gawd was it ever good!

Has to be Wild Caught.
Other than that... your eating something that has been swimming in a equal ratio of shit and feed. |
Heck yes; Copper River. I used to wrangle business trips to Seattle to get fresh salmon.
Oh, halibut is delish too as is tuna, cod, tilapia, and orange roughy. |
I love salmon. I love salmon fishing (ocean).
note: we're having BBQ chicken wings. Yummy, but after hearing about your salmon dinner...... |
Yes, I made sure of that. I won't buy the farmed salmon. |
yep, Copper River Sockeye is what I eat 2 - 3 times a week. |
What species? Mom bakes our kings with rice, lemon, onions, butter and a bunh of other stuff.
Wild salmon only. The farm raised stuff is crap. It's fed dye, because due to the lack of actual exercise, the meat would be pale. It also lacks much flavor.

Grilled some yesterday. Marinated it overnight in corn syrup, apple cider vinegar, and brown sugar. Very tasty. |
If it smoked, its okay, other whise i am note a fan of salmon.
Honestly, I don't recall...but they did have it posted. I've been waiting a while for them to get REAL salmon in the store, not the farmed crap. I was so ecstatic I didn't care about which species. It was wild and it was headed for my belly. |

With grandma gone the only fish for me is smoked king salmon srtips or slabs.
When you have it readly available you can get tired of it. |
No need to wait until it gets to your grocery store, order it online straight from Alaska. I use northwest seafood good people. |

I'm weird in that i prefer Atlantic salmon to the west coast variety.... probably because i grew up eating it.
The natural orange/red flesh color in wild salmon is from the shrimp they eat. |
Do ya' have the Scots in ya'? Dave S Go to Houlihan's for a nice dose. |
On my way to the Kasilof and Kenai Rivers in an hour to catch me some Kings this weekend..
All Atlantic salmon is farmed. |
I googled it and yes, it's from their diet. Local paper was plain wrong, or just made it up. Semper Fi |

More precisely it's a carotenoid called Astaxanthin. They feed farm-raised salmon the same thing, just synthetically made. The whole "artificial color" is BS. Wild salmon is not naturally red in color, it's only because of the diet. |

Thanks for the link. I'll check it out. |

Farmed or wild? There's a big difference. |
I'm lucky enough to be inundated with fresh seafood...multiple salmon species, shrimp, crab, shellfish....sometimes I find myself saying "Shit, I'm tired of fish...I need a steak!"
I love salmon, but sometimes it's too strong for me to eat. Not sure why that is, is it where it's from?
Wild. I won't buy the farmed stuff. |

I'll post an "after dinner pic" tomorrow. That is, when I'm done with it. Hope you like cable salmon. |
I love fresh salmon, as long as it isn't anywhere near heat or flame
I love fresh Salmon as long as it's been near the perfect heat and flame - or grill....
Just filled 3 personal use tags (105 Kenai Reds) will start fishing with a pole tomorrow.
OMG - can I be your friend???? One of my best friends just got back from AK after an off shore King/Halibut fishing trip. He only managed to bring back 45lbs, but it is great stuff..... |
doesn't sound like fresh Salmon |
I guess you don't care much for pork. I love salmon. Wish I could get the hang of grilling it without screwing it up.... |
When I lived in upstate New York, I used to catch salmon all season long. I'd have the day's catch on the grill that evening.
Fresh caught / grilled salmon is money. |
