I was wondering. If someone orders a gin & tonic or similar, and you use the soda thing to fill it up, is it actually tonic water or just club soda/ carbonated water?

In the bar I owned, we only had club soda on the gun.

Usually the Bags In Boxes, BIB, are labeled either Tonic or Quinine Water.
Least every place I've worked at.

Yep... any bar that serves mixed drinks MUST have "tonic" water either on the gun or on premise. Soda is much sweeter than tonic and is easy to pick out when mixed with Vodka or Gin. Most bars have both tonic and soda on the gun.

I'm a vodka and soda drinker.
I send the occasional drink back when it's made with tonic.
Easy mistake to make on the gun.

+1

The barback would make a run if we ran out of tonic.

I've had a few gin and tonic drinks served to me with seltzer in place of tonic.

We have both on our guns. Tonic is marked "Q" for quinine and soda is marked "S".
