Im also in FL. Ive noticed it the past few months, so I dont think its just kids out of school. Could be the political climate, who knows. There are often times now where I can feel the divisiveness in social settings. there is a fine line between discussion of racial issues and real racism. sadly most people here don't understand it.
not everything negative stated is racism. many here haul out the racist card the same way al sharpton does. it's gotten to the point a racial discussion of any sort gets blown out of proportion and the race trolls on both side go nutz. |

Dammit you can feel the white guilt and frustration in this thread.
 As neither a black person nor a white person, I feel that I can be an effective mediator of this dilemma. WHITE PEOPLE: Don't feel bad if you dislike people because they are complete fucking idiots. Moreover, don't feel like you have to stifle your calling-out of said idiots just because they are black. You will be persecuted, sure, but sparing someone the criticism due to their skin color is a product of the very thing you were made to feel guilty about in the first place! Don't discriminate! BLACK PEOPLE: In this age of ever-increasing mixed-race relationships, integration, affirmative action, and overall black empowerment, what will it take for the complaints to stop? Reparations? Not going to happen. EVERYONE: Take a cue from your countrymen who "get it" and don't blame your problems on "the man" when time and time again you accept his charity. This has been termed a "cycle of poverty", and will continue unless you or your children end up realizing that the American Dream MUST BE WORKED FOR. Any other notion is a pipe dream and not worth hinging your future upon.

I just bought a toy police car for my four year old at target. Made by Tonka (Hasbro). Lights, sirens, radio chatter, doors open, pretty cool, she loves it and so does my 15 month old boy. When I got it home, I noticed the squad car number is.....88. Coincidence, or is someone at the toy designer studio making a point? hard to tell from the pic angle, but there is a big ol "88" on the roof. Thought it was a bit odd.  |
