You would think it would dawn on someone to get web gear and packs in something other than woodland camo... Would match the rest of the uniform just a LITTLE better, don't you think?

I am sure that huge pack isn't going with them into combat.
Benjamin They will have something smaller. Like an assault vest and maybe a fanny pack or something |

They are half of a 4 man recon team on a 4 to 6 day training mission. Any attempt to resupply would compromise them, so they must pack everything. That is a lot of food, a [b]ton[/b] of water, an ass load of batteries for the comm gear and other devices, sleeping bag/cold weather gear for night time, ammo, claymores, iso pad to keep the rocks at a tolerable level. 2. This is a training exercise. Train with more weight then necessary so when you go for real you are better conditioned physically AND mentally. 3. Administrative march from one base camp to another with little possibility of enemy contact. 4. Because the Staff Sergeant said so! Former Staff Sergeant of Marines, Dave Peacher. |

ok, it takes a LONG time for the supply chain to gear up and get you some desert cammies. those guys are just training in turkey. probably rotated in from somewhere else. YES, they need all that stuff. NO you dont need web gear and packs in desert cammo. even in woodland camo you are hard to see in the desert. YES those are NVGs on the helmet. for further information regarding issue and supply in forward areas or traning routines i suggest gathering up your birth certificate and social security card and high-tailing it to your nearest Marine Corps recruiter. they'll be glad to help.
