I'm partial to USGI 20 round mags for range target shooting.

I have some Colt 7 rounders, but don't really use them for much.

I have a bunch of 30 rounders, but don't really like to shoot with them except for plinking and messing around doing rapid fire. I guess I would want these if I were ever in a battle type of situation, but I don't ever plan on that happening (knock on wood).

Never used the orlites or waffle sided ones.
Never used nor do I want to use any of the non-USGI metal/steel aftermarket mags.

they feed perfectly and work nice from positions like prone and off bags.

i love usgi 20 rounders. they work great

also like usgi 30's
havent tried any thermolds yet but i plan 2

USGI 30's for all around general fun.

When I got sent to Panama in 1976, I thought 30's were really cool..Till they snagged on all the vines and brush..Then I just used 20's..better all the way around

The only non-USGI mags I own are two Labelle black Teflon coated 30's. They are identical to USGI's in everything except the exterior coating which is non-Milspec. As my wife says, "Boy, are those pretty..." [:D] They're more for show than anything else though. I don't ever really plan on using them seriously.

Have had nothing but good luck with USGI mags. As a matter of fact, some of the more beat up ones with loose springs work just as well, if not better, than the almost new ones. The only other ones I've tried have been Orlites. Haven't had much luck with those.

USGI (Colt) 20 rounder for bench and slow fire exercises.

USGI and Thermold 30 rounders for fun, plinking, rapid fire, or when I am going to be hiking a ways and want as full of a mag as possible.

Orlites suck. All other brands wish they could be as good as orlite.

I use Master Molder (Thermold) 20 rounders for bench and prone shooting and Thermold 30 rounders for standing and from the hip shooting.

They're light, low profile, highly reliable, very clean loading, and [i]nice and shiny[/i].

USA Magazines are Easier To Load, But Less Reliable and Break alot easier. The Lip on one of my 30 Round USA Mags. broke off. Complete Junk unless you just want cheap crap.

The only mags that I have had no malfunctions with are my Thermolds. My USGI 30's don't feed well (black followers). I just put green followers in all of the USGIs so I'll see if they are improved.

I prefer USGI mags, but the Thermold mags are an excellent alternative. the only drawback to the Thermolds is that they will not fit into a USGI M-16 mag pouch.

I have had Great luck with everything I've got, USGI mags, Thermolds, my One Bushmaster mag, and YES! Even my two Orilites have served me well so far.
The only thing my Bushy don't like is Wolf ammo, and it don't matter WHAT mag you load it in, it won't feed for SHIT!!! But that's another story!

I bought a bunch cheap at a gunshow several years back, they were so bad I gave away some to friends as X-mas presents.[:D] Dug them out last weekend for a shoot, to see if I had any better luck, slapped a full one into my M4, and 3 loose rounds popped into the chamber! Stupid Israelis...

You mean smart Isrealis.

They make cheapo piece of crap Orlites, then sell them in the US Market for a large markup or simply trade them for USGI Magazines. They are making a huge profit and feeding their military by selling/trading Orlite Magazines and Galil Rifles.

Is there any advantage to orlite or any other synthetic. In my part of the country the USGI's are cheaper. I don't own anything but USGI. All makers are probably represented. About 70 at last count. I hide the colts in the back of the safe, figuring that somebody will trade me 2 for 1 someday. Does there seem to be a pecking order among mag makers? If so tell me which are the most desirable so I can put them back!

THERMOLDS, I like the 20 rounders but the 30 rounders are great two. Hell they are BLACK, they match the weapon..[:D]

I got into the whole AR15 thing not too long ago, so I never got in on the usgi mags when they were cheaper... I've been using thermolds since I got my first AR and they've worked perfectly every time. And I can find them consistantly for around $15-$17.

I have 12 OK's and Centers that I have toted all over the world, for combat shooting matches, some training and real world stuff. I even use them for fun. If I get a shitty mag, I try and stomp it before turning it in, keeps them from coming back to haunt somebody, since nobody ever seems to fix them or throw them away.
