What kind?
Either country or '60s rock. No good rock and roll after 1970.
I'm gonna get trashed for this.. (Puts on nomex suit) Marilyn Manson...[BD]
Classical. German, What else?
Eric The(OK,MaybeALittleRussian)Hun[>]:)] |
I listen to Shania Twain and George Strait too dammit.. I like country music as well..[:)]
I listen to a wide type of music.
Alternitave, rock, industrial, 80's, techno, classical, and ambiant are all sitting in the jukebox. No rap though. The only rap I like is the 80's rap. 2 Live Crew, N.W.A., Ice-T and Public Enemy. Some of it wasn't all that bad. Av. |
Well, I hate the label "alternative", but I guess that would be the closest. Mostly Oi! or punk/hardcore music.
Believe it or not, country would be my second choice. But only preban country (country prior to 1989). Give me some old Merle Haggard over Mark Chestnut anyday! Sorry boys, but this new country is basicly pop music with a southern accent. Shit, Shania Twain is played on the same radio stations as Britney Spears. What a shame. And once you add steel drums, it's NO LONGER COUNTRY!!!!!! Edited to add that Marylin Manson SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And he stole most of his gig from Iggy Pop, and GG Allin. |
Who the hells voting for rap music, as that shit sucks!!
Edited to add: The nomex suit works!!! |
You left the best out of the poll. Christian music is the only way to go.
Not on the poll so here it is www.grooveradio.com
Pretty much listen to dance/club/techno. Also pop, reggae, and a select few rap and hip hop tunes. |
I appreciate all listed with the exception of CRAP-I mean Rap. IMO, any monkey can hold a microphone and in a redundant, pre-kindergarten manner say, "Yo, yo, yo, wassup,...I thought I told that we won't stop,...What's up what's up what's up what's up what's up." Sadly, I find the Barney songs that I've been forced to listen to while hanging out with my little niece more intellectually stimulating than that rap stuff. And all those corny remakes (stolen from true musicians/artists who had the brain cells and talent to create the music in the first place) are just sad and do the original piece no justice. Listen to Rap? No thanks...I'd rather smash my dick with a ROCK, thank you. Or masturbate with a cheese grater...take your pick. Give me good ol' country music with artists who can actually hold a note and display their TRUE talents as evidenced by creating original songs, playing a variety of instruments (no, turn tables don't count), and all the while singing. Now that's MUSIC! No disregard meant to those who voted for rap, just not my cup of tea.

Blue Grass and older country music. Rap suck's, not allowed on the property. I would rather listen to pigs fart.
80's alternative to be exact! The 80's ruled!
Marilyn Manson sucks by the way! :) |
jsr75 - How do you feel about 'rap?'
(Next time I hear progressive jazz I may try that 'cheese grater' thing.) [:D] |
Anything but Country for me (no offense to those who like Country).
Tyler |
Miles Davis
Tool Classical I like musicianship although I absolutely cannot help myself when it comes to techno/trance/drum&bass. Said in my best Steven Wright impression: "Play that funky music white boy." |
Country
None. Absolutely none of it. Classical My first eight years of school were a "classical education" with lots of exposure to anything European pre-1800. Romantic period music (late Beethover and newer) was too modern for my teachers! I don't listen to classical often now, because I get tired of hearing the same pieces of music over and over again when teaching piano and violin lessons. Rock and Roll Lots. Alternative Most of it. Everclear and Cowboy Mouth are two of my favorites. They are great live. Rap I really like some of it, and I hate most of it. It's a strange dichotomy. You left-out a few catagories: 80's You can't leave-out Ah Ha, Madanna, Lauper, etc. Heavy Metal Nothing gets a work-out going like a little Slayer. Dance I haven't been to a club in a long while, but I can still hear Aqua Lollipop. Techno I could listen to NiN for hours. It helps me concentrate.z |

Hey 5subslr5, you must be another one of the old farts. Raco2000
country(older traditional) and rock are the most i listen too hate rap music
Well, It depends what kind of mood I'm in.
I listen to alternative (the Cure, the Smiths, New Order, Siouxsie and the Banshees, the Sundays..the REAL alternative stuff), old country (Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Waylon and Willy, Dolly Parton, Crystal Gayle), rock (the Stones, Beatles, CCR, Janis joplin, Hendrix, the Doors) Hard Rock (Zep, AC/DC, G n'R) Folk rock (Indigo Girls, disappear fear Harry Chapin, Jim Croce) Metal (Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Motorhead) What I call alternarock (Janes Additction, RHCP, Everclear, Smash Mouth, weezer, Sponge, ect) Punk (Sex Pistols, Suicidal Tendencies, Subhumans, Social Distortion) And Chick Rock!!! (Julianna Hatfeild, Veruca Salt, Joan Jett)!! Riot Grrls RULE!! and of course 80's pop (a victim of MTV, I am!!) [smoke] |
Heavy metal is the music I prefer. Give me some Ozzy, White Zombie, Megadeth, or Powerman 5000 anyday. It is a shame that most of today's music sucks, regardless of category.
Live Free (and listen to what you like) P.S. I hate Briney Spears' music, but I love the way she looks! |
Classic rock, current rock, easy listening, classical, Christian. Appreciate some rap. Not into disco, country, polka, folk or opera. [;)]
(Edited to add disco to the list.) |
There in not a whole lot I don't listen too, my collection ranges from Punk/Hardcore to classical/broadway and everything in between including most Country, rock, and blues from the 50's to present, and there are a couple *cough* rap *cough* albums I have...
IMO there is way too much music to just like one thing.... |
Pink Floyd
blues classic rock I loath this new age pop country crap, like the old stuff though. |
Country rocks. But Bluegrass rules!

Quoted: YUCKY!!!!!! MARLYN MANSON IS EVIL! View Quote Evil? Perhaps. But at least he supports your 1st and 2nd amendment rights. Not to mention he does a fantastic rendition of 'Golden Years' [:D] No techno/industrial category? Front 242, Colbalt 60 and Apoptygma Berzerk all the way! |
I'll probably get flamed for this one, but my favorite band is Rage Against The Machine.....
Michael |
There's Nothing I like better than kicking back to the smooth sounds of Yanni or John Tesh.
When I really want to party, I put on a little Barry Manilow!! [:X*] Generally, whatever I hear on the radio is fine--I haven't played my CD's in a long time. |
records,8tracks,reel2reels,cassettes,CD's are all ways the man drains fools of their cash. Now take a ride in a elevator, listen carefully, and see if your feet do not start a tappin,an head start a bobbin.Thats music!
There are way too many genres to be able to categorize my listening to the list given...
Light Jazz & Instrumental Nature's Melodies (Mannheim Steamroller's Fresh Aire series, Indian flute, etc.) 60's Psycho Pop (Hawkwind, King Crimson, etc) Rat Pack era (Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, etc.) Avante Guard - Chicks (Kate Bush, Enya, Tori Amos, Annie Haslam, Sinead O'Connor, Sade) Avante Guard - Guys (Roger Waters, Brian Eno, David Bowie) Basically, if they play it on the radio, I'm not interested in it! |
