I KNOW what it means, there was bad weather
But what do I care?
Wyoming is the depot my packages come from.  It was scheduled to be delivered today, and now it just has an "adverse weather conditions" exception.
There was no adverse weather on the 27th, it rained a little.
And where is my package?  Did it get lost in the weather?

It is just the excuse whoever happened to be working that day picked for not having your package on time.

areas affected by floods, tornados, hurricanes, blizzards, etc.

If the route that the package has to take is through areas affected by weather, delivery may be delayed.

If location that package is to be delivered to is in an area affected by weather, delivery may be delayed.

but the "adverse weather" is 3 days before it was supposed to even be delivered?  so are they telling me that since there was a little rain on friday, they are going to delay my delivery from today until tomorrow?

Radar loop for 6/27/08:

www.wunderground.com/radar/radblast.asp?ID=GRR®ion=a4&lat=42.89806366&lon=-85.75711060&label=Wyoming%2c%20MI

Wyoming is by Grand Rapids.

Considering UPS moves much of their freight by air, I'd say, yes, there were adverse wx conditions.

yeah i was in Wyoming on friday.  It was sissy weather.  A little rain, and that was it.  For Michigan, it was nothing.

You're not a pilot by chance, are you?

ETA:  I've never flown a 747, but that appears to be adverse to me...

Ha.  I have a package coming to Michigan and had the same note attached to my tracking details except it was held up in Maumee, Ohio.  Was supposed to be delivered on Friday.

no, i guess that does look bad.  ran my windshield wipers a few times but its not like there was any downpour or anything.  I guess it looks like higher up, there were some problems.

But that still doesnt answer why adverse weather on Friday effects my scheduled delivery today.

Are they trying to say it is lost forever?

as mentioned it was likely conditions that mostly affect flying (high winds at altitude, etc).  Then of course it affects the rest of the timeline.

Yes.

Had a package delayed 1 day due to the same.
Not too bad...but it's their way of telling you it won't be there on their original "promised" delivery date.

I had a Fedex package delayed.  They claimed bad weather in Memphis caused the delay, but according to the Memphis airport, no flights were delayed.  Plus, the package was on the Fedex truck early in the morning.  Bottom line, the package was late because of their driver, but they stuck an "adverse weather" notification on it so they wouldn't be liable for it being late.

yeah, package actually shipped ground, and since the tracking shows that it stopped nowhere between Utah and Michigan, and it took 2 days, I would guess its due to lazy/incompetent employees and not weather.

That sounds about right.

I had a package from UPS delayed because my apartment number wasn't written on the box. I don't live in an apartment.

Then the driver claimed I didn't want the package and refused delivery, so the package was sent back to California.

My favorite is the 'Cannot find Address'...

It' a Fort Lewis, WA address... HMM... It might be ON FORT LEWIS????

The Army uses a shit-ton of FedEx, UPS, and DHL deliveries...

The drivers know where the major units are...

'Cannot find Address'....

We have a large number of people from WA on the board...

We have a large number of truck drivers on the board...

We only have one "Dave A." from Ft. Lewis, WA on the board...
